Hey guys - my tint installer claimed that there’s a 20% front windshield crack rate after tinting. FL location. Not much supporting facts on the web - your thoughts?
thanks

I read a lot about it before I had mine done, but went for it. What I saw was that many of the issues were caused by the installers cutting against the windshield (inside or out).

I verified my installer wasn't going to, and went for it.. I'm also near Tampa and had mine done in July and I even noticed a reduction in energy with less heat baking in the cab..

Good luck!

The good thing about Tempe is that Arizona laws make insurance very easy to get a replacement from. Most places will throw in the tint for free here to get the insurance business.

We did our’s last July and no problems, nada…can’t see why it would be an issue. It DID make a big difference as far as temperature control…likewise, the glass roof.

I live in Orlando Fl, have had my windshield tinted for 7 months now and have no problems. I also highly recommend it as I immediately noticed a reduction in heat when driving.

Yeah, no issues here either. I did hear about the issue for the Top/Roof glass, but not the windshield. I had my X done and owned it 4 years and knew I had to repeat with the CT.

Tint on windshield is pretty much mandatory and crazy it does not come that way from the factory, with the size of the CT windshield you are going to cook in FL.
Have had all my vehicles windshields done and in FL it is a must, especially in the fishbowls that are Teslas with all the glass.

What tint level do you recommend for the windshield? I did my back seat glass limo and front seat 15%. I want to do the windshield too but looking out of 15% tint at night might be a challenge. I'm also in Florida so the heat can really get intense.

I (in NJ) have 50%, but wish I would have done 30% as a better compromise for privacy and visibility. Did 50% to avoid getting a ticket or pulled over. coincidentally, I seem to see more and more vehicles with darker front tinted windshields and I have not been pulled over yet. However, 50% works and I did notice reduction in heat.

So the % tint and heat rejection are not directly correlated, you can get about as much heat rejection out of 50% as 15%
So it kinda comes down to privacy preference, ability to see at night, and what your willing to roll the dice with on getting pulled over for.

I figured that was the case. 50% seems like the right way to go. Thanks!

New CT owner, and been working on the pain to get the front inside windshield clean. Have to use a pad on a stick like this:
Tesla Cybertruck Windshield tint? 1743628478247-16

I normally don't do tint, but am going to for the CT. Any concerns with keeping the "fog", etc. from the front with not scratching/damaging the film?

Same, did mine last September and no issues.
The installer pre cut and rolled it around a broom handle to be able to install from top down, so no cutting while installing.
