Windshield Wiper Removal

I remember seeing a post *somewhere* about somebody removing the wiper arm and coating their windshield with RainX or some other ceramic coating. The wiper arm was stored in the truck and easily attached with an 18mm socket if they needed it. I live in an area that gets very little rain and I rarely need a wiper, especially if coating the windshield and the angle it's at. Thought I might try this out. Any potential issues with this?
