Silly question here: Why would anyone want to remove the side mirrors. Do you really think it looks that cool, and the truck needs to look any more alien??

Well I can think of 3 reasons.

1. Aerodynamics.

2. Some people prefer the look of it without the side view mirrors.

3. Not very useful. I don't use the mirrors in my Model 3, the cameras give me far better visibility and unlike my mirror, my cameras have never gotten obstructed during a drive due to weather. Which is surprising, I don't understand how those side cameras are always so crystal clear.

Where I live, side mirrors are not legally required unless my interior mirror is obstructed. Which unfortunately means my cover has to be open or I need at least 1 side mirror.

So I'm hoping there is an aftermarket snap on mirror that I can easily put on and take off the passenger side. I'll probably leave it on most times but if I'm going offroad or really want to show off the truck to an old friend, I'll take it off.

Why are you still suggesting they're going to violate criminal law in the state they made the offer?

No, they've never broken their word.

cybertruck side mirrors removed.webp
Taking off is easy. Filling the hole is another story and no, duct tape is not an option.

Something was wrong with the sound. I couldn't understand a word he said, though I may have caught "Tesla" in there somewhere.
Probably some foreign hackers go deeper and closer to FSD.
One day your CT may drive from you on it's own

I apologize for my recent reply. It was misunderstood due to my ignorance. And I therefore did get cancelled

Because this notion raises a question about mirror removal that hasn’t been answered yet

I’ve only been in the Ct with the mirrors on.

At least in that configuration, it seems the cameras facing the side/back will display on the screen only when the turn indicators are engaged

Is there a different setting in eg in M3 that shows the BOTH side mirrors on screen at all times?

or perhaps with the Ct, when the side mirrors are removed, they become permanent on the screen?

because the point being, it sure seems that side mirrors are useful for many times when turn indicators aren’t engaged

Moreso in the CT, where natural visibility to the rear or rear corners is … very low

The mirror sits on top of the door trim. There is no need for a cap. Remove and it's done.
better to ask questions than make assertions that are clearly incorrect

there are many other photos and explanations to be had, but for simplicity here in the diagram is the rather large hole, which is a cutout in the SS panel, being discussed - which is not only a hole, but one that sits at the base of the side window, facing upwards to the sky, and leading directly into the interior of the door

you can bet that if Tesla intends the side mirrors to be easily removable by customers (seems they do), there will be some additional part they offer to sufficiently plug this hole

Using the cameras over side mirrors?

You can drive with your side mirrors displayed on the center screen, back up camera too for a good rear view. It's just a button you can press from the menu and it can show all three on your screen at all times.

I still have side mirrors on my model 3 of course, since they aren't meant to be optional like the Cybertruck sideview mirrors. But I don't look at them. The cameras give me much better visibility and I get a better sense of how close it is. It's actually really handy as well to use the screen because I will see where the car is showing on my display as well, since my main display also shows me where all cars around me are.

I will say that I don't drive with them constantly on my screen, but I would check the rear view mirror rather than the side view mirrors because I never trust the side view mirrors. Just like when we are learning to drive and during driving tests to get our license, we were always expected to check the mirror, then look over our shoulder before switching lanes or maneuvering in that direction, because those mirrors just can't be trusted. Unless you have the really big truck ones that have the blind spot mirror, you need to do a direct look behind you too. I also expect them to have an option for big truck mirrors on the Cybertruck, and I hope anyone that ones that will be able to get it, but i'll stick with my cameras.

My hope is that Ontario changes the law from requiring one mirror to letting that be one camera, or even 3 cameras, so I can just put that mirror away too. Since they've already shown that the rear view camera is always displayed.

Dude. You will obviously be driving atop a heap of electrically driven components that are not sealed and will fill up with water during the rain even the BAW won't save you. Good luck on your electric coffin or door water jug, whichever you prefer. This is why we can't have nice things.
