Doesn’t group power management already do that? Not sure I understand the purpose of this. For people with 100amp service and lots of home demand?

yeah, this allows people with panels that are at capacity to have an EV charger without spending thousands upgrading the ampacity of their service drop.

Group splits X amps across all your wall connectors
Dynamic keeps a single wall connector from overloading the service/ panel.
Air Conditioning turns on? Automatically lowers charge current.

It’s surprising to me there is a big enough market of people charging EV’s at home without enough reserve to run 48amps. Maybe that speaks to how much privilege I’m used to.

There are plenty of houses that can’t run the full 48amps. I was at a family members house and used a 120v plug to charge, painfully slow. So I was looking at the panel thinking I could install a bigger plug there but they have all electric appliances, dryer, stove, AC, and 2 heater. The panel is 150amps, which doesn’t leave enough for a full 48amp charger. This new meter would work great in their situation. It would turn up the charging amps while appliances are off and turn down while appliances are on automatically. Or they could pay thousands to get the panel upgraded. The new device would save a lot of money.

Yes. My house was built with 200 amps when that was common. I had it upgraded to 400, but a lot of people won't want the hassle and expense.

It also offers the opportunity to add a wall connector to a travel trailer (or splitter box) and charge Cybertruck without tripping the site's 50A breaker.
Wonder if this would be helpful in a solar charging scenario too.

Basically yes, use this to monitor the inverter capacity in an off grid scenario with wall connector.

I am just getting into solar (DIY) and learning so I may be totally off base here.
You could set it to less than your inverter's output or link it to solar production, but combining the two might be beyond it.
