Finally finished my 2 year project of relocating my V1 Hansshow Mirror to just above the screen. IMO, this is where the dedicated mirror should be for those that want one. It blocks nothing and is basically an extension of your display without taking up space on the OEM screen. It's attached to the mirror using a custom mount I created and am very proud of since I've never used CAD to create something. (Thanks Grok for the guidance on Autodesk) I used the mirror and ball mount it came with and screwed the mirror into my 3D printed piece. More than happy to share the STL for those that want it.

The mirror and mount attach to the screen with VHB tape. Yes I'm nervous about that for many reasons but mostly how will I ever remove it if I want to. The mount is super sturdy and will not come off or break. PETG CF....

I also mounted the camera and housing on the glass behind the removable valence thing by the bed since I have the rooftop tent and that piece gets removed regularly.

I had to extend the power lines from where the front camera is above our heads along the top down the pillar behind the dash and to the camera. Pictures will hopefully clear it up.

When I had the mirror mounted where it originally was supposed to be, it blocked some of my view and interfered with my GPS signal since there are too many wires needed to be jammed up there. The screw was also stripping as it's a nightmare to remove and reinstall the mirror when you want to clean behind the cover.

Nice work. Can you tell me a little about your wire management for the back camera?
I mounted mine on the glass like yours because I have a cybertent that requires aeroflap removal to set up and have had to replace two cameras for wire damage.
One was transected by the Tesla service monkeys when removing and putting back the aeroflap and the second one just started malfunctioning over time from compression.
How do you protect yours where it dives down to the rear window area?
I’m about to install a third and was considering just sticking it to the glass headed towards the cantrail without going under the flap vs drilling a hole in the front of the aeroflap to make room for it without compression.
Do you maybe have some close up shots of how you did yours?

Had a chuckle at the 2yr comment, as I also have a V1 with camera housing etc sitting on my shelf gathering dust. Also was dissatisfied with install in traditional rearview location. This post inspires me to get around to mine.

Be wary of mounting on the glass, anything that retains heat or adds vibration to the glass may cause problems.

I've actually had the camera mounted there for 1+ years. Survived the winter and summer seasons with 0 issue. Held on with VHB tape on the housing. The camera I think I mounted to the housing itself, not the glass.

I hear ya. Hopefully doesn't become an issue in the future and if it does, I'm blaming you for it.

I actually routed the wire a year ago. I believe I just pushed the wire into the gap between the aero and the truck. I'll take some pics when I get a chance. I do remember not having much of a gap...

Haha. I hope I’m wrong! Also I’m basing this info on some fellow who VHB his starlink mini to the glass, a few extra variables there!

Also, could you take a picture your rearview mirror mount? I am intrigued of this mounting solution

I like the traditional location for the screen, but agree 100% with your camera location. It is where it should have been from the factory.

Very cool setup! I was really hoping Tesla would have better developments for digital mirrors by now. I really want to delete my side mirrors, but I can't without a rock solid solution.

I find it very disappointing of Tesla to throw a fake mirror that isn’t even usable due to the back cover, for the $40k more that Tesla asked at the original CT release!

“It’s going to be great!”

It’s Tesla and you think they wouldn’t have went cheap and just first installed one of these standard!

GM puts these in many of their fleet at no extra cost to consumer.

This is a great idea. But I can't bring myself to mount a rearview mirror form factor like that. We need to source a very wide aspect monitor the same width as the CT screen (427mm panel width; 410mm screen width) so it will look clean. I would totally buy this - even with the standard Tesla accessory markup.
