You would have thought that full self driving (FSD) would also have included Summon. Anyone know when we get that?

ps - thank you Tesla for FSD!
I am not convinced that ASS (Actually Smart Summon) is going to be helpful for some time, whereas I am certain that parking at the end of a navigation, and reversing out of trouble, would be helpful to everyone right away. So no hurry on ASS for me.

I have encountered situations where even the dumb summon would have been appreciated.

The parking spots are narrow, the truck is wide, the truck auto parks by backing in. Most other drivers park head in. This can result in a situation where the CT driver door is adjacent to the passenger door of the car in the next spot. If that car didn’t have a passenger to unload, they sometimes park so close, it’s hard to enter the truck. To be able to pull the truck straight ahead 8 feet would help.

Is there not even dumb summon on the Cybertruck? I thought that the OP was about Actually Smart Summon, where the intent is to have the car come to you over some distance and not just into or out of a parking space.

That said, the number of cases I have seen where someone parks in too tight a spot and the adjacent cars have no people that need to enter/exit their own vehicles on one of those sides is actually very small, so I never do it myself. I have seen a family try to use dumb summon to park a Model X in an area where people need to open their doors wide, and once they were informed of this they changed their minds. The only other time I saw dumb summon used the people that used it opened their Model X falcon wing doors into the adjacent vehicle.

I might be mistaken, but I assumed dumb summon allowed the car to be pulled out of a parking spot, not used to park a car where there wouldn’t be enough clearance to open the door. In either case it isn’t available on the truck now.

I’m glad you aren’t a discourteous driver and considerate of other’s needs when parking. I know of several parking lots near me where the lines are painted so close together that getting in the truck can be difficult when a normal sized car is next to you and both vehicles are perfectly centered within the lines. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the situation I find myself in.

You can do both with dumb summon. There are arrows and you can move the car/truck forward and backward.

I believe the reason we don't have ASS is that it was not built on E2E, according to one Tesla programmer on Twitter. It's using the old code, which isn't present or designed for the CT, much like Autopilot.

That's also the reason why ASS is still hitting poles in the 10+ examples on TMC/FB. It's still meant to be closely monitored.
