More Tesla price cuts === cheaper Cybertruck (6 oct)

The average price of the Model Y was $65,000 last year. The price of a lot of things was extremely high last year.

This year prices have come down. Many trucks which were jacked up in price over the past couple of years are sitting on lots gathering dust. Dealerships are offering massive discounts to unload them. Every single F150 on the lot in town is discounted and up until a couple weeks ago, they had half a dozen 2022s on the lot they were offering for $8k off.

Last year’s average doesn’t mean a damned thing right now.
I agree with much of what you’re saying here but you are still confusing price with value.

Supply is constrained.

What is the market clearing price for the early reservation holders supply volume?
What is the disparity between that price and open market value?

I understood your point as, they are priced higher then their competition. They aren't.

Cybertruck is not luxury, it's brutalist. It's competition is the f150 and the silverado. Not an escalade and it will be priced as such

Model s was designed to compete with high end luxury.

Model 3 was designed to compete with mid to entry level luxury.
I agree with you, however I think it is more important to remind everyone that the CT's main competition is the ICE F-150, Silverado and Ram. Not necessarily the EV versions. That changes the perspective of where prices should start IMO.

I think a lot of people are expecting/wanting the CyberTruck to be Hella expensive, niche and rare. but the truth is Tesla wants to flood the earth with this thing... you cant do that with a high price tag.

Will they start by producing the more expensive model? Probably, Elon has already eluded to this when he said the Quad motor would come out first. So for a short period of time it will be a more exclusive vehicle.

On this thread? I don’t think people are championing “hella expensive”. They just think it’s an inevitability, not a desirable outcome.

If Tesla wanted to flood the earth with CT Musk should not have chosen a design with niche appeal. This is a vanity project and a completely unnecessary risk for an auto maker that plans to be big.

CT is a better design for a company with BMWs market position and aspirations.

I do think it will take the general market some getting used to but once on the road most will see it looks better than they thought and others may come to realize that it is function over form and appreciate that.

The form is what allows tesla to flood the streets via their manufacturing techniques

1.45M units CB demand, Zero supply so far equals jacked up price in Economics.
Considering the reservation list and supply constraints; What market strategy do you think Tesla could implement to keep prices low for reservation holders without losing out on high demand profit potential?
