I have to admit, I bought an aftermarket center console (CCI by Evannex) which fit that space nicely (and gave me cup holders that are actually usable, my biggest complaint about the S: the armrest cupholders are just not useful on a long trip). Even though they recommended I remove the lining of the yacht floor to more permanently install the AM console, I didn't and the CCI pretty snug and will give the next owner the option of keeping/removing the console. I'm wondering if I'm going to want to buy an AM console for the CT. The current design (that we've seen on the pre-prod models) of the armrest console for the CT looks great to me with usable storage, cup holders and wireless phone chargers in a more ergonomic setup than the S.

for one, I suspect that just like with the S with yacht floor, aftermarket will flourish with expansion options - maybe even CT accessories team will have OEM options

otherwise, it’s merely a holding pen for stuff

which as referenced above, it’s Existence is borne less of being useful to storing things, and more of providing a barrier at the floorboard that reduces the chances of things rolling around under the driver’s feet or worse behind the brake pedal

in older trucks, the transmission hump played that role

I would use it to hold small stuff that I might otherwise put on the front passenger footwell of my truck - particularly if I was worried about getting the carpet dirty. For that use case it would be better if the height of the sides of the box formed by the yacht floor was a little greater. Hmmm... that might be a very simple DIY mod.

Wait a minute! As a long-time truck owner, you are confusing me.

The truck bed is the place for dirty cargo. And passenger footwells get dirty from peoples boots so other things with light dirt on them can be put there if you don't have a passenger. But you are more concerned about the stuff you put in the passenger footwell getting the carpet dirty than you are about the passenger footwell getting your stuff dirty? Clean stuff like jackets and duffle bags go on the back seats. With Cybertruck we will have another clean spot to use too, the frunk.
