I've decided to start collecting all the naysayers' snark, so that we can revisit this annually for a good laugh.

Today's material comes from "TheDrive" article "Tesla Cybertruck Wrapped Like a Toyota Tundra Is Really Beating a Dead Horse" (we got a mention! LOL!):

  • It's almost like the engineers took it as a challenge when someone jokingly said, "Hey, do you think it's possible to make a vehicle even uglier and less appealing than, say, a Pontiac Aztek??"
  • And, I used to think the Pontiac Aztek about the ugliest thing on wheels.
  • The truck is hideous. The only person who would even consider buying this is a collector, because this thing is going to go bust.
  • Reminds me of another stainless steel vehicle that didn’t work out.
  • The only reason it is on anyone's mind is because of the movies.
  • Looks like a 4 year old's drawing of a car. And what's up with the raised slanted sides of the bed? Those are going to make it harder to load/unload.
  • Pretentious people will buy it because they think they’re cool being the first out the gate, but after that dies down it’s going to fall by the wayside. Too many competitors coming up with way better design.
  • It just looks dumb to me and I'm sure my opinion isn't popular but why does it look like something a 5 year old designed. Outside of the hype, of owning one because its so unique, it seems like another poorly built tesla.
  • What do they want me to see? The fact that it's not as good as other offerings on the truck market? That their sloped side is too tall for side bed access?
  • If anything, these wraps show all the ways in which this shape doesn't work for a truck.
  • If Musk gave me one for free I would sell and get a Tundra, unless that little storage area was full of 50 dollar bills. Then I would drive it all over the states.
  • Cybertruck Owner's Club... I guess there are zero members since no one owns one?
  • What's the point of buying a pickup truck that has restricted cargo space and no headroom for rear passengers?
  • So this is the modern day Pontiac Aztek?
  • Stainless steel body panels are fantastic!! Until of course they get the tiniest ding, then you have to replace the whole panel because you can't just straighten out stainless. I really don't feel sorry for whoever buys one of those, they get what they deserve.
  • Interesting. A vehicle pretending to be a truck dressed up like another vehicle pretending to be a truck.
  • Remember the Simpsons episode where Homer's long lost half brother Herb finds him, and gets him to create a new car for the everyman, and Homer's design is so awful it puts Herb out of business? Yea, I'd take Homer's car over this piece of junk.
  • People thought they were buying a hot new Tesla. Instead they got an ugly version of the old "Brat". This hidious thing is useless as a pickup truck. Used car dealers don't want them because the resale value will be a loss sale.
  • Owners are going to love those blindspots.
  • The tundra will drive for years with little to no issues long after the stainless steel panels are the only thing left of value on that tesla.
  • They should release that hunk of junk already instead of dickering around that way it can get "properly" panned once people really get a load of it.
  • The cybertruck looks like the third place winner at a middle school science fair.
  • I think the Tesla designers and engineers need to go back to the drawing board for this "truck".
  • Worst design ever. Makes the Aztec look amazing and normal
  • The cybertruck is going to be the biggest flop product of the century. And i want to be a fan, i really do. But this design is just bogus.
  • this tells you why proportion is so important. you put any good looking truck design into cybertruck it looks bad
  • Are people ever going to wake up and realize EV's are the latest gimmick and does absolutely zero for the environment ?
  • Is it a trans truck? Trying to identify as something it is not?
  • My Tesla Model 3 is the best car ever built. I'm pretty sure the Cybertruck will carry on the tradition. No gas tank, no tail pipe. What's not to love?
  • No matter how you wrapt it, it looks better than it did. What a design strike out. Sometimes Elon is too smart by 1/2.
  • The wrap is because they trying to make it look like an ICE truck that people actually want. And there is another thing. If you buy an EV, you are sending money to Russia. EVs are funding their side of the War going on right now.
  • This is Musk's sense of humor; He must have said, "I'll make anything and the public will buy it". The Cyber truck is proof that we'll buy anything Musk sells.
  • Sorry Tesla, this truck is ugly. I don't design cars, but I approve designs for a clothing line. When I see a design that bothers my eyes I know it's wrong. This truck is one of those. If they want truck buyers, go back and redesign. Sometimes "different" is just weird not better.
  • Ugly doesn't even cover it, I would be embarrassed to be seen driving it, did the engineer's get together and plan making the ugliest ever????
  • Adding color make this design seem even more absurd than before.
  • This THING is nothing but the newest incarnation of the Hummer and other such vehicles. Once the newness wears off, people will quickly realize this thing is as useless as it looks
  • That is beyond ugly. It’s so incredibly ugly that I don’t understand.
  • The Cyber Truck will evolve ..Tesla will make a Pick Up truck, In Texas.. most likely steel or aluminum ( lighter anyway ).. dropping the bullet proof windows, and of course a more “ conventional “ design .. Right now the Cyber Truck has over 1 million pre order interest .. let the market work…..
  • So they are spending time creating and wrapping vehicles without having solved their own problems and sold one vehicle yet?
  • Doesn't matter the wrap, the cybertruck still looks bad.
  • one look at those tires and you know its not a "real" truck
  • Why do the keep doing these wraps? Are just basically trying to subliminally convince us of what we already know? And that is not to buy the cyber Aztec or should i say Frankenstein DeLorean?
  • My Toyota Tundra feels terribly insulted.
  • Keep beating the Tesla cyber truck with an ugly stick is like trying to polish a turd.
  • you can not just "band aid" ugly and not trying to be funny or sarcastic but I would not own that ugly creation even if "Musket" gave it to me for free! I would be embarrassed to be seen drive the ugly electric toy anywhere!
  • Wow thats ugly
  • i'd uber before i drove something that UGLY..
  • i guess that's all the CT is good for, jokes.
  • this doesn't look very nice.... just saying
  • 100% hate this truck and hope it fails big time
  • Putting lipstick on a pig.
  • They have to keep doing this because its so dam ugly.
  • These things are getting uglier by the day!
  • Cartoonish and ridiculous, how many people are going to bang their heads getting into that back seat?
  • Not very good looking
  • you see that windshield, man it's huge
  • The joke is on the Tesla buyer. I doubt Musk would even drive one.
  • Wouldn't take a free one ??
  • Does the wrap help contain the flames from the battery fire?
  • Nah, the cybertruck wish it was the Tundra, you know one of those shoes at Walmart that wants to look like a Nike, but just isn't. Yeah that is the one.
  • Well, why not, it couldn't get any fuglier.
  • I'm shocked that they somehow managed to make that goofy Cybertruck look even worse...
  • come on commoner! you know i am rich when i drive one.
  • The cyber truck looks like the cars in Total Recall. Congrats Tesla, welcome to 1990’s vision of the future. Lol
  • This is the Pontiac Aztek 2.0. Fuhhhgggllly.
  • Anyone remember the Delorean? I didn't think so. Space Karen has 'jumped the shark.'
  • So whoever wrapped it concedes that it is likely the ugliest vehicle ever made. Even the people who have made a deposit and tell us it is a great truck know better.
  • Alright kids, Can you say Cyber Junk?
  • I like the truck with color on it. The bare metal ones look like appliances. LOL
  • They should sell them with that wrap. It makes them look a lot better.
  • The performance of the Ford Lightening has taken all the wind out of CyberTruck potential.
  • The huge front windshield + a giant wiper are beautiful design right?
  • I’m not going to lie: this is the stupidest s. i have ever seen in my entire life.
  • Good grief! Looks like something I might have drawn in third grade...and I can't draw a straight line with a ruler!!!
  • Lame
  • Still the ugliest vehicle ever
  • Good luck fixing one in a wreck, and insuring one later
  • It is Ugly Truck
  • Of course they want it to look like any other truck so it is not so hideous.
  • That windshield looks like a major headache to replace.
  • And given it's layout, one can only image the debris that get kicked up into it
  • WHAT were they thinking with that design?
  • I don't care how aerodynamic it supposedly is. Its just bigger version of a Pontiac Aztek! Seriously, look it up!
  • That sold HORRIBLY cause it was UGLY, and IMO so is this usless waste from Tesla.
  • The ONLY thing it resembles is a Movie Prop???
  • Cybertruck is Fug.ly
  • Please stop calling that thing a truck. It has nothing in common with a truck in any way, shape, or form.
  • I would not take one for free unless I could upsell it
  • Wrap 4,000 lbs of garbage in a pink wrapper, it's still 4,000 lbs of garbage. Same thing with this ugly piece of junk.
  • You wrap poop in in green plastic...It's still poop.
  • He is trying to hide it when it goes dead on the road and he cant find a charge station.
  • Ugly and not practical with the angled side bed panels, makes for blind spots and hard to tie down your tiny load ,..in its small bed .Terrible design...The Hot Wheels toy version might sell to children...no serious builder would ever buy one to use in construction..
  • It's hideous. I would not call that a truck, looks more like a suv.
  • That is the ugliest vehicle I've ever seen.
  • Lol so ugly. Can’t believe people bought it. Hahahaha
  • My Tundra would pull that cybertruck down the street!
  • Is the second row only for Hobbits?
  • What a huge Robocop SUX-2000 piece of junk looking thing.
  • The design of the Cluster-Truck® is bigly ... ... ... !
  • thats a truck? what will it haul a suit case
  • Really doesn't look very useful as a truck
  • LOL with how rich Musk is you would think he would have good designers, but this so-called truck is nothing but an ugly abomination. I wouldn't be caught dead in one.
  • What a HORRIBLE looking car - It WILL Flop! I can't imagine WHO would purchase this Piece of - - - -...
  • The ugliest truck ever designed and built.
  • it just plain ugly and useless
  • Wrap it anyway you want it's still a hideous beast....Only appeals to the "Look at me!" buyer
  • Doesn’t matter how you dress it up, it is and always will be ugly.
  • A joke and I just ??????
  • I can't believe people were putting down payments on this hideous looking truck years ago and still waiting for it. Ridiculous!
  • They are trying anything they can to make that Pile not look ugly

Brilliant idea, Gus!

One suggestion/question... Is there a way to "web archive" the actual source so we have a copy in case/when they get taken off its original host? And maybe it would be good to include the link references the way Wikipedia does it. Like this:

  1. McFarland, Matt (November 22, 2019). "Tesla's Cybertruck has become the butt of every internet joke". CNN. US. Archived from the original on November 22, 2019. Retrieved November 27, 2019.

Now I want to wrap my CT with these comments.
Maybe a word camo wrap. From far away the wrap looks like the old style legacy auto camo wrap. But as you get closer you see the lines are made of letters that have all the quotes.

Or maybe like a "Matrix" waterfall.

The viral woman on the plane could be a good meme pointing at the Cybertruck saying That MF Is Not Real.

We could probably also include baseless comments from the likes of Gordon Johnson, Craig Irwin, or Dan Nathan, but they are obvious bought shills and likely deserve their own thread to ignore.

I'm sure the publishers targeting sheep will have plenty of material to get last laughs at.

I would be nice to see how long it takes for these naysayers to admit they were wrong.

Good luck with that. In my experience, naysayers just reinterpret their own viewpoints and keep coming back with, "See, I told you so".

Today's hot garbage is courtesy of Business Insider: The Tesla Cybertruck might always look a little busted

  • Wait until you see the repair cost. Those panels can't be repair easily if at all. Insurance costs will skyrocket.
  • good news for Pontiac this truck has replaced the Pontiac Aztek as the ugliest vehicle of all time
  • That pointy roofline is a great feature for the baby giraffe population that has so often been ignored in car design.
  • Beware of fender benders. Who can fix this? What's insurance cost?
  • That thing is uuuggglllllllyyy.
  • I see a lot of vehicle wraps and paint jobs in these cars futures. There will probably be body shops dedicated solely to squaring up the panels on this vehicle.
  • They can't control body panel gaps because they have straight edges and stainless steel? DeLorean handled those issues back in 1981 with stone knives and bearskins compared to the technology Tesla has available. 'Sup with that?
  • What a ugly hunk of junk that thing is. The build quality will be the usual Tesla garbage too I'm sure. I'll bet the price is nothing even close to what was advertised too. Remember the 35k model 3? No one else does either because it never happened.
  • Please stop using soft words like busted, that shis is ugly. The truck looks like it was put together with legos. There's a reason automotive engineers have been putting curves on cars since the invention of the automobile, it makes them appealing to the eye. I repeat the cyber truck is ugly.
  • After the first fender benders people will go into cardiac arrest when getting repair bills for minor damage!
  • The Cybertruck has exposed something I didn't realized. Majority of people seems to prefer looks over utility/performance. It actually helps me understand why society is at where it is today.
  • No matter how impractical or expensive, this truck will always appeal to a "certain type" of man.
  • I finally thought of the best look-a-like cybertruck thing - the metallic kitchen salad cart with while and large glass to cover the salad.
  • Dont forget, $7500 of your tax money will go to the worlds richest man to help him sell this thing.
  • When looking for property I always thought "No HOA" would suffice but I will in the future add "No Clustertruck® near" to the catalogue.
  • On the upside, it makes it easier to identify his simps.
  • Why do i need this?
  • I've never seen so many people complain about something they have no intention of buying in the first place. Odd.
  • Have it painted.
  • Why is he insisting on making this thing stainless steel? Why is that important to him?
  • Vanity project from beginning to end.
  • Hey Elon just give me the one with the F150 wrap and we're good.
  • I see a "Back to the Future" remake coming.
  • I better not see any of these anywhere.
  • Can't wait for my New 2019 Truck!
  • you can't do anything to make that thing look good unless you start over from scratch and design a truck that looks like one instead of whatever they call that trash...
  • I'm all about engineering and design but I just cannot with this truck
  • That windshield wiper... that is the worst eyesore of all
  • LOD5 for you game devs
  • Heavy, ugly, rangeless when towing, did I mention Ugly, overhyped, overpriced junk for sale.
  • Fresh garbage
  • It sure is ugly
