Just curious if anyone has seen any evidence for or against a bed camera like Rivian and some of the other trucks out there have? For example Rivian must have just enabled flipping the bed camera on while driving (maybe it used to only be when backing?).

We haven't seen one in any of the pictures of the Cybertruck. We have had enough exterior sightings that it would have been seen unless it is extremely well hidden. I think the possibility of this is very very low.

If there was a "bed-cam" and the vault cover was closed, now you're going to need a whole different camera, day or night. The only iight back there would be from whatever comes through the rear window, and possibly the bed lights we have seen. But we have no indication if those are on while the CT is on, or only when the lights are on, or only when the vault is open, or can you manually turn them on, or can you turn them on with the app?

We haven't seen any photos from the underside of the roof overhang, so no way to know for certain. But we haven't seen any display indications of another camera. Plus, all the cameras have a use in FSD, a bed cam wouldn't. Other than just looking back there, where is the benefit? How would you use it?

I think the two biggest reasons many (most?) other brands have added them to their full size trucks would be to check for loose cargo and to assist when backing to hook up a goose neck trailer or 5th wheel trailer.

I've had my 2007 silverado for ~15 years now and don't have a cargo camera, but on a handful of occasions I have had the bed loaded with stuff and thought man is that strap coming loose or is that thing shifting around back there? So the camera would have been nice to just check on things. The other reason with my silverado would be that I have a soft tonneau cover and the damn thing has flown open on the interstate in very heavy wind, so either way I'll be glad to have the vault so that is one less worry! lol

im sure tesla could manage turning bed lights on when cam accessed at night or closed

this

on one hand, we’ve seen pretty decent shots that *should* have had any camera pop out and be noticed

but can’t write off entirely that a little bugger is tucked up under there somewhere way out of expected view

bed camera in my F150 is nice to have. In addition to viewing bed cargo, for people who tow it would probably be a good or best angle for viewing a trailer behind the truck in some scenarios

a rearward camera on the tailgate wouldn’t be useless, but would be eg a whole lot of front of the trailer.

FYI here is bed, rear, hitch camera views from Lightning

We've seen the tailgate mounted camera on the RCs, so I feel reasonably certain it will be there. So for towing we got that covered. We will see what kind of view that give you for the trailer. Knowing they use it for FSD input, I gotta think it'll be a good rear view... Heck, it MIGHT even be good enough to use as a real view mirror replacement!

that’s there for sure

I was speaking of possibility of a bed camera tucked under the eave at the bulkhead

would be only possible location for a bed cam that we’d have plausibly missed

there is zero doubt that tailgate cam will be the manner in which you have any visibility out back with tonneau closed

That's what I was saying in my first post.I referred to as the "roof overhang". We're on the same page.

There was footage of a CT filmed from sentry mode in a CT a month or two back. Didn't that show the bed camera for a second or so?

There are 3rd party solutions that let you change the camera input using homelink. Don’t remember the link though.
