Is the Foundation Series worth it?

Although you have done a nice price breakdown (thanks for that!), the only thing that matters is the last paeagraph. There are a couple of missing intanbibles: (1) first run will have issues that will likely be resolved within the year, and (2) it is possible that Tesla could improve 4680 performance and cost in the next year. Is the extra time waiting and agonizing worth it? What value do we put on stress? For me at my age I’d say that the added stress is worth a lot more than it was 20 years ago

Great points! Yes, 4680's are still new and will improve with later versions of the CT.

I remember hearing from Elon that the best time to buy a new vehicle is the very early days, where additional attention is paid to early builds, and then after the production ramp, where the early mass production bugs are worked out.
My Model3 is a VIN 48k and has been solid with no real issues, a couple of real minor things, but overall, it is really solid.

I’m going on 4 hours of sleep from last night’s email (tossing and turning, cybertruck fever dreaming) and am contemplating whether to pay this much for a vehicle when it’s more than double what I originally expected it to cost. Your analysis is bringing me back down to earth—may hold off on the immediate gratification for overpriced premiums I don’t really care about to get the truck sooner than most. $20k premium stinks and the founders editions of the model S and (I think) X don’t seem to add much, if any, value years later. If anything, these early ones will likely have more issues. But I still may get it…tough decision! I’d say get it if you have money to blow. I still have a mortgage and younger kids, so not the smartest decision to get the cybertruck in general, much less for an extra $20k.

I don’t think the 7500 credit will apply to the foundation series. So if you financially qualify for the under 80,000 credit The Foundation series will cost you 27500 more.

or food “if in doubt chuck it out"

based on a reasonable price - I was guessing +/- $59k for the dual. I was trying to talk myself out of buying one - “did I really NEED it?"

Now as revealed at $79k i’m trying to talk myself into buying it - it will depend on $/mo
