Anyone willing to share their killer PowerPoint they've used (or are currently working on) to help convince the wife that dropping 100k+ on the Foundation Series Cybertruck is a genius move? Not having much luck so far. TIA
That's a tough one. Without knowing the details, it's impossible to say one way or the other. But have you ever considered she may be right?

I recommend people drive inexpensive but safe and reliable vehicles until they have enough savings to buy new vehicles without using more than 10% of their savings on the purchase. Auto loans are a curse that will likely prevent you from reaching the place in life where money doesn't matter anymore. I didn't buy my first new car until it cost less than around 1-2% of my savings and it was the right move. Now I can buy as many cars, of whatever type I want, without it changing my other spending decisions. The exception might be if a new car would accelerate your career or business, but this is rarely the case.

Figure out how to spend less while simultaneously living a more fulfilling life. Money does not equal happiness, but living in a manner such that you're not always short of money and in debt does make it easier to be happier. Focus on stuff that actually matters.

Skip the powerpoint and instead talk non-stop about Cybertruck and all the new things you read about here on CTOC everyday.

Eventually she will beg you to spend the money and buy the damn thing just so you shut up about it.
A) "Look at how much the price has gone up! If we wait and put off buying it, it's going to cost even MORE!!!"

B) "It now costs me $150 in gas to get down to the hunting ranch. With the Cybertruck it will only cost $20. That's $130 that could be spent on Beer!"

C) "It only has a range of 300-some miles. So don't worry I won't be that far away."

D) "This is definitely the car to pick the kids up from school with. Our kids' parents will have the coolest car of all! So they'll like us! And they'll try to stay on our good side so they can drive it too."

E) "There won't be any bills from automotive paint shops. Not with this one."

F) "If the big flood comes, the Mother of all Katrinas, this one will float right with it."

G) "What if someone down the street got one first?"

H) "My younger brother that you hate? Remember how mad you were because he's so obsessed and proud of that old jacked up pickup with the big tires and the loud muffler? Think of how much fun it'll be to one-up him! He'll want to drive it! And don't tell anyone I said this but it's okay with me if you say "Hell No!"

I) "When the big dogs jump up at the window because they're happy to see us they won't scratch the paint because there isn't any."

J) "When the bad guys try to carjack you because they see your new diamond (oh here it is dear just look at those angles and facets just like the truck ain't they) you'll be able to just drive right over them and crush those stupid guys cars!"

It’s certainly not a genius move to spend $120k on truck if you’re in a position that spending that amount of money requires spousal consultation

"Honey, you are absolutely right. We should go get the Ford instead. It makes so much more sense. Besides, they have dealerships to help us out. Remember when we went to look at the Lightning? What was that really hot saleslady's name?"

MB,

We don't make any major purchases without discussing it first. It's not a request for permission. We call it "courtesy". And for the record, her response is almost always the same; "It's for you, whatever makes you happy." Give respect, get respect.

SO: I need the new iPhone
ME: No you don’t.
SO: But it’s so cool
ME: Big deal, no one cares.
SO: [fuming] …you still getting that truck?
ME: [sweating] …you want a case with your new phone?

Honey, We don't need a bunker. It's the only thing that matters in case of apocalypse. Elon personally promised me a solar panel roof that can charge the CT. It's waterproof, can float in case of 100 ft waves.

Yeah but what does your wife think
Hmm....

I actually did put down $100 for two.

One for her.

But if she does not want it....

Those are valuable comments.

"Money does not buy happiness but debt can buy misery."

Now if we could just convince Uncle Sam of that.

Killer Power points:
1. I promise not to buy a Starship
2. Remember that time you wouldn't come with me to the Star Wars premiere? This'll make up for that, at least partially.
3. If you do this, I promise I won't bone your sister.
4. Next year, I'll let you buy your own Foundation Series Beastmobile.
5. If they come out with a Titanium body in 2025, I won't get one (at least for a while).
6. Hey look, a plane!
7. You know how popular I'm going to be with all the shorties in the hood?
8. I'll be over here sulking 'till you say yes. You're gonna say yes. Yes?
9. Okay, I'll go with you to the Jackson Browne concert.
10. Honey, I was trying to cancel the order, and I musta pushed the wrong button, I swear it's not my fault, there was like an earthquake that moved my fingers all cattywampus...and then there was a fire...
You're golden, and whatnot. You really, really are.
