In this very special episode of Jay Leno's Garage, Jay is once again joined by Tesla's Head of Design, Franz von Holzhausen who along with Tesla's Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, bring with them this very special 2024 Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series, aka, the CYBERBEAST! Jay, Franz, and Lars go over the finer details of the Cybertruck and also reveal some of the Cybertruck's easter eggs...

Some interesting things...

First look at the Sueded Steering Wheel option

In Wade Mode the air suspension system is used to pressurize the battery pack to decrease the chances of water intrusion. As a result, Cybertruck can drive in up to 2.7' of water with no cabin intrusion.

Cybertruck's LED Light Bar accessory can project light down 5 football fields distance. Also, the truck is already pre-wired for an LED light bar (even aftermarket). No need to run your own wire and AUX switch. You can simply turn the light bar power on/off all through the UI / display screen menu.

Lars mentions with a little bit of additional buoyancy and a electric outboard, boat mode is possible. (31:46)

31:43
pretty insane um any other kind of 110 outlet or like you know Elon did want to
31:48
make it a boat and so like the vehicle almost floats maybe you have to add a little bit of extra buoyancy just to keep it up and you know if you're
31:55
creative and you want you could figure out how to put an outboard motor plugged into your outlet there turn it on from your screen and go boating really I mean
32:02
I I haven't engineered that one yet but I'm sure you could do a j

Franz mentions they are working on an inductive charger with no need to plug in. @cvalue13

Franz also looked pretty comfortable in the rear middle seat with enough head room.

First time I've heard official confirmation from tesla that "over 2 million people put down deposits" (10:30)
Yes, while on investor calls the've mentioned close to 1 million

And I don't think either is an error, but instead two different descriptions

e.g., what is relevant to an investor call are essentially SAM numbers - e.g., the portion of reservations that are from a geographical location that is currently planned to be offered the Cybertruck

while still separately true are essentially TAM numbers - the total number of people who put in reservations, despite not being yet relevant to currently planned serviceability,

With 4 years to collect sign-ups, and only $100(US) at stake, I can see how they've collected a lot of pre-orders

I’m interested in the light bar for the DAWD version, likely adding Hella or similar so the wiring tips are very valuable. I’ll need to educate myself on polarity and voltage with the 48vdc system but Without a confirm VIN, I’m confident I have time for someone to share that info.

Jays's take that old folks don't dig the Cybertruck proves he's never spent time on these forums. We're fricken ancient.
I wasn't old when they announced it back in '19, now my kids are telling me I grew up in the late 1900's. Bastards . . .

Here's the part of the video where Lars talks about the off-road laser light bar, and the connection, at 28:50:
