What should be interesting is the stats for those who made reservations of base and 2nd tiered levels but decided to take the invite to the pricey FS.

A lot can change in terms of one’s personal finances in four years. When I reserved a $57k AWD with FSD I was seriously concerned about whether I’d be able to afford it. But our household income has doubled in those four years to where I can comfortably afford a Foundation Series AWD with range extender ($116k) which is basically double what my original reservation was going to cost.

Tesla should learn from Ford who got greedy with the initial release of Lightning at very high price point couple with price gouging mark up's by their dealers.

for the first year of Lightning release, I was very active in the Lightning forum

I could count in one hand the people asked to pay a dealer markup on a Lightning, and fewer who paid one


Ford sold the Lightning through its website with dealers acting as delivery points, not deal brokers. Like Tesla.

Then they told dealers they had ~1yr to decide if they wanted to sell EVs at their dealerships, and if so, it would mean the dealers would have to sell them all the same way - like a Tesla - install chargers, etc.

Recently 1/2 the dealerships decided to not sell EVs.

Which ai believe was Ford’s plan. This is how you squeeze dealers out of the new EV business unit’s monetization. Like Tesla.

I was ready to buy A Ford Lightning XLT but the dealer near me wants $115,000 or $30k more than Ford corporate's published price.

I feel your pain. I was in the same a week and a half ago then got the invite when I wasn’t expecting it. Keep checking both and good luck!

Thanks very much. I was looking to see if anywhere there is a mention of a towing package inclusion. I'm surprised it's not.

I'm actually happy when I did not.

But I was again ready to pull the trigger when Ford came to their senses in pricing while Tesla announced their crazy numbers.

And then got this FS invite that made me restructured buy-then-trade strategy until my intended dual comes along.
