Hey an honest question. Not being a dick.
Are we sure the Silverado goes 450 miles? Have we seen any real world testing on this or is it more of the same as Tesla’s 500+ mile claim?

M8, I think you have that backwards. I don't know of a single electric provider that doesn't offer cheaper rates to encourage usage outside of peak load times.
Unfortunately, where I live in Upstate SC, Duke Energy does not offer discounted off-peak rates for my area. I called and checked. :(

I am out as well. Its real world range will not allow me to practically drive from Houston to NW Arkansas (there is a 203 mile gap in SCs between Denison and Fort Smith which means an hour plus at Denison charging to 95% in the hopes of making it). I am hoping that I can just defer the purchase and not have to cancel entirely.
If you go under 65 instead of 70 you'll get a huge range boost.

When I'm driving my MY from Utah to California or back reducing the MPH by just 1 usually gives me 1% of range which is 3 miles. So if you reduce the MPH by 4 then you just gained 15 miles of range. That's nothing to sneeze at. You could go even lower and maybe have better results. To be fair, that's me usually going from 82mph to like 77 mph since the speed limits there are 80 for most of the way.

Are you Duke Energy Carolinas?

Those rates are still not great, and Duke Energy is a horrible company that needs to be put down. They are without a doubt the most unreliable power source I have ever had the displeasure to use and that's saying a lot since I spent quite a bit of time in Djibouti Africa and had fully reliable power. With Duke, I lost power over 50 times over the span of 8 months living in a typical suburban neighborhood in a major city.

Yeah, we are not happy with Duke either. They suck!

When I called them, they said they offer the discounted off peak rates, but not in my area. :\

All true. There is also the happiness of the cells themselves. They do their best at moderate temps, or as Tesla peeps have said, they are happy at the same temps where you are happy.

And in addition to air density at temp differences, there is water vapor in the air, known as humidity. This also has a (lesser) effect on drag. And how about altitude. This has a massive effect on drag. At the extremes of all these variables, you can have a huge effect on drag.
Not a significant impact from altitude. But that's awesome, because ICE owners can't say that. Fewer of them oxygen molecules to combust!

I suck at math so please be gentle if I have this all wrong.

Standard Lightning battery is 98 kWh and nets 240 range in ideal conditions. CT AWD pack is 123 kWh and nets 340 in ideal conditions.

25% larger pack on CT but 41.6% more range.

Seems like it is more efficient.
A data point from a forum member indicates that the Lightning with extended battery and all weather tires gets a little lower than the Cybertruck without the extended and with the all terrain tires.

The question I have is "Why?" This efficency is almost exactly the same as my Lightning. I thought the CT was supposed to be more slippery (drag co. of 0.34 CT vs 0.44 FL). With those numbers CT *should* get 2.5 mi/kWh. Tesla custom-engineered tires for the CT - hard to believe rolling resistance wasn't a key factor. So... Why isn't the CT more efficient?
Ford, on their web site, indicates 320 miles range with the extender. Cybertruck is 320 on All Terrain tires and 340 on All weather.. And then you can add the Cybertrucks range extender.

That sounds like a lot better to me.

So in other words, you are unhappy with rates that are amongst the cheapest in the country?

I'm in Georgia and pay $0.16 in the summer (But only $0.06 in the winter)

Might not be a great TOU rate, but the overall rate ain't bad.

Head to CA where the rates are similar, as long as you shift it one decimal point to the left.

It's not what there website is showing today, which is 400 miles. They are supposedly already on sale, but delivery numbers suggest that Cybertruck may have already outsold them.

Not a proper 100 to zero test, but some data points:

81% SOC indicated 383 mi
Drove 128 mi in 24%, reduced indicated by ~100 mi

I can't recall the speed average for that loop, and don't feel like rewatching the whole thing, I think it was around 60mph average. So not directly comparable to 70mph or 10% challenge type tests

You may have to call them and just tell them specifically to to switch you over to the "SCHEDULE RT (SC) RESIDENTIAL SERVICE, TIME-OF-USE". Don't ask if it's available; start with the assumption that it is.

If they give you an excuse, I would escalate it up the chain. Make a director or similar level person give you an official reason why you can't be on the rate schedule they advertise. Sometimes I find that people just hate doing their actual job.

Same as: "Sorry, the icecream machine is down."
