Waiting for the redesigned Cyberlandr.
IMO, Cyberlandr is overhyped, will underwhelm, will underperform, and will be overpriced. Its design is not versatile in the sense that you cannot have the beds set up and use the kitchen, sink, etc, at the same time. This would require partners to always be on the same schedule when it comes to eating, sleeping, etc

Yes, I wish them the best, but I think a computer designed camper like this is vastly easier in theory than in real life.

Allpower's SP039 600W array is sizable, compact, and lightweight, but I honestly would recommend a dual-fuel (gas and propane) generator as the primary source for off-grid power. The Champion 201120 Generator seems to lead the pack for generators of this size, according to Consumer Reports. Dual fuel would be reliable, versatile, and compact, depending on how large of a generator you went with. Propane used for the camper's heating and cooking could also generate power. It would still be a good idea to have an aux power system and a moderately sized array for redundancy, assuming that there was room. Full rooftop solar could be possible if there are options for side-mounted fans and cooling devices, not sure what is out there.

If you're going to off-road camp in the truck, a range extender may be out of the question, as you should want to have a spare tire in the bed. As far as I can tell, a generator and a spare tire will take up as much or less room than the range extender, albeit with a different shape. Things can get pretty tight pretty quickly in the CT bed. I almost wish they would have made the tonneau cover fixed/folding/removable and used that space for a spare tire or a larger battery.

Someone pointed out that extending the camper to the edge of an open tailgate could be problematic for accessing superchargers. Testing would be needed to see whether the truck can be angled and wedged in between charger stalls without taking up two parking spaces. Unfortunately, Tesla extension cables are not a thing when it comes to supercharging; only destination chargers and high-power wall chargers will work with extensions.

If an over-the-tailgate design does not turn out to be realistic, then keeping with a wide camper/topper would definitely be the best direction to go. IMO, a design that is >75" wide on the interior would be ideal, allowing for spaciousness and both north-south and east-west sleeping. Tune Outdoor's (Denver, CO) M1 camper design is pretty dialed in, similar to Four Wheel Camper's Project-M. I prefer Tune's design because it has six windows vs four. You'll want those extra upper windows since the Cybertrucks design won't allow for many or possibly any lower windows. I definitely would recommend some type of thermal package throughout.

A shower, toilet, and entry enclosure could be built off the tail end using an ARB awning with an awning room added. This may be the way to go if a shorter camper design is required. Hopefully, Tesla will connect their current rooftop power supply to Sentry mode. This could allow someone to have perimeter security lights mounted to the truck or camper if they so desired or made them feel more secure.

Building a modular camper topper could allow storage cabinets, benches, sink, and refrigerator to be removed if needed. This would allow the shell to be used as a topper and the truck to be used as a work truck without having to remove the top. Reliable, comfortable, redundant, and versatile are the way to go IMO. All difficult things to achieve in a small space.

Just some thoughts...

I really appreciate all the comments. I will ponder many of them. I'm surprised you can't just build an extension for supercharging. Regarding the tire, We could mount on rear or camper.

I've been contemplating this for a while haha; so happy to make suggestions

Good point about a tire carrier, that could free up a bunch of space...

I hadn't found anything that would accept DC supercharging, but it actually looks like there is a company out there that is working on getting this approved "Certification: CE, FCC, ETL (Under application)." Not sure if Tesla will give this the thumbs up or if the chargers will accept/start a charge...

If your team does go the modular route, there could be options where a refrigerator and kitchen setup can be occasionally transferred between the bed and the frunk, since there is a power tap behind the front tub. This could add some flexibility for when the weather is nice, if someone prefers not to cook inside the camper, if extra room is needed for stealth camping, and if guests or pets need additional space (stealth camping seems like an oxymoron if you're in a Cybertruck haha). Looking forward to what you guys come up with!

The Superchargers probe for added resistance and voltage drops, and they are very sensitive to it. The amount of voltage and amperage surging through those cables is extremely dangerous, and if they didn't design against 3rd party extensions, any idiot could buy dollar-store trash from aliexpress and set several cars on fire the first time they used it.

I'd wager to say any attempts at creating or using such a device would be met with extreme prejudice from Tesla. And rightfully so.

Great point.... I'm good with a Tesla only option. I can't imagine they aren't creating these things soon. Lots of reasons to do it... carrying stuff, truck camper, towing. etc.

Im defiantly curious. Seems to me to be an extremely challenging engineering task.
Yes, it is. I hope we get an update (prototype?) soon now that the final specs of the CT are known. The reduced payload capacity and the smaller/odd shape of the bed will impact the design. I suspect that it will be less than was originally described, but maybe in other ways better.

As to the NACS extension cord, take a look at the V2 Supercharger cord, it's pretty thick.
Now take a look at the V3 cord, it's thinner. How did they do that? It's water cooled!
The cord at the link looks smaller than the V2 cord, only rated at 150 kW and 6 ft long.

We are excited to show the redesigned CyberLandr in the coming months after we receive our Cybertruck (estimated delivery Jan-Mar) and we have the new patent protections in place. Our team has worked very hard to meet and in some areas exceed the promise of the original design.
In case you missed it, here is a link to our latest press release with a few more details.
