What is your original reservation #?
I already got the invite last month.. just trying to figure out if Tesla hit this magical number for FS trucks.. whatever that number may be…

Did you place an order? If so, what was your estimated delivery date? Jan-March?

feels like a trickle at best, doesn’t it?

man’s a trickle seems conceivably consistent with backfilling against prior invites that back out

either way, a trickle is *not* pushing to keep orders going at the pace they were before

increasingly considering that Tesla is in fact sticking with 1,000FS units, or at least slowing down to consider their options / survey the field.

I have looked at but not ordered FS, I'm wondering when they will remove the option to move forward or downgrade to non FS. I got the invite sometime late Dec.

Invites might be slowing, as they potentially reach a target amount of FS. I feel the amount of FS orders so far is probably 5k to 7k, but it’s hard to tell ?

Noticed you have a lightning, I haven't even looked at ford recently. If buyers are dwindling even for Tesla, do you think Ford will be dumping inventory for cheap in the next 6 months? I'd jump on a lightning for 30-40k (its ok to laugh, I know that's pretty low)

i understand that feeling and couldn’t dispute it, could more easily make arguments for it

that said, I’m increasingly fascinated by the possibility that Tesla is, still, in fact limiting it to 1K - and while eg 5K invites may have gone out, less than 1K orders have been made and kept

the Tesla VIN convention proves there was at least originally a plan for only 1,000 (but kept flexible for changes), I separately know 1,000 was and remains the ā€˜official’ plan (but subject to change), and … we’ll… there remain fewer than 1,000 folks on this forum’s order registration site

if 1,100 folks had registered on this forum, we’d know the 1K plan has for sure changed

but orders adding are slowing to a crawl here as well.

the only data that would make it surprising would be the notion that out forum’s order tracker has such high capture, with over 700 orders logged.

then again, people receiving invites are among the most active owners (and so likely to follow if not know about this site - and if not this site, a few others like xwitter where people have been pointing orders to come log their info).

always a ride

The offer to configure is still there for me, five days later.

It would be interesting to know when your window closes. It might stay open as long as they continue to invite new people to order a FS

I’ve seen knowledgeable reports saying that, industry-wide, EV adoption rate is decreasing. And separately, obviously, new car sales in general are slowing if only due to interest rates and increases depreciation in trade-ins.

Meanwhile, for these stated reasons Ford specifically has recently said they are going to cut production of the Lightning.

However, having followed Ford closely, I can’t tell what to make of the production cuts. Reason being, with the Lightning Ford is always talking out both sides of its mouth because in 2025 it’s slated to reveal it’s all-new, ground up, BEV truck - which won’t be an F150, but instead an entirely new line of F-series.

So, like every Ford Lightning iteration before this BEV one, back to the ā€˜80s, the BEV Lightning was always going to be a temporary offering and loss-leader for essentially marketing and R&D purposes. They know they’re about to produce a whole new full-sized BEV truck, and the Lightning will he let to fade away.

Meanwhile Lightning sales have done fine, and so with the production cut especially, I don’t foresee them dropping prices like a rock. If anything, they keep prices high in order to throttle back orders, until the new truck is revealed in 2025.

Who knows ??ā€ā™‚
