When the official release happened at the end of 2023 I put in a 2nd order @ RN120. That 2nd reservation still hasn't gotten the invite, FWIW.

Hi folks. I'm new to your forum. I got my invite about a week ago offering a Foundation CT. I have a '22 Plaid S with FSD that I love. I can't really keep it and the Beast which is what I ended up ordering. The expected delivery went from August/December to July/August, so it may arrive soon. I'm so spoiled by my Plaid the bar for the CT is high. I'm waiting for a trade-in offer from Tesla (I know they tend to come in low) so I'm torn. I really want a HW4 car for the next releases of FSD. Tesla did too good a job on the Plaid S. I'm reluctant to give it up. Decisions decisions.....the bane of my life.
I have a 2021 Plaid and April delivered AWD CT. I’m fortunate to have both plus my wife’s 2020 P100D X. Since there are no certainties about when FSD will arrive for CT, if I were you I’d wait on the CT. I probably drive the CT more than the Plaid right now, but short trips. 10-20 miles round trip. Anything else I’m in the Plaid or X w FSD. CT doesn’t even get autosteer right now. I’m all over the place because I’m used to multitasking with my autopilot/FSD. The Squircle is no friend to knee driving either. It’s awful. First world problem, I know.

Then there is the depreciation which you’ve already taken at some level on the Plaid, which IMO has me holding onto my Plaid forever at this point. I’m not giving it away for $50k-$60k!!!!

If you can be patient and wait a year or even two, I’d get an AWD CT then and hopefully you can keep the Plaid too. I’ve sold too many Model S’s and then regretted not having it in the stable over any other Model. There is no better sedan IMO. CT is great, but I’d be kicking myself if I didn’t have an S to drive and I’d be back to hunting for a better spec than the one I have and TBH, there is none. If you’re not in love with your Plaid’s spec and would like another color choice, that’s the only reason I’d jump ship on it.

Good luck!

Very good! Iā€˜m glad to hear your experience. Everything you’ve said is a factor. FSD I’m okay with waiting for even though I love it. If I didn’t have the Plaid i would be less hesitant to switch platforms. I love that car. A few things even causing me to question my CT. The energy consumption which is good for a vehicle that size will take getting used to. It’s not the cost of energy, I don’t care about that, it’s the road tripping. I don’t want long stops. I’m not sure how quickly v4 SC are going to roll out. I guess I could live with that. I have had a suspicion for a while that hardware 3 had hit it’s limit for fsd processing. I was pondering updating to a Plaid S with HW4 just for that reason. Elon has low-key hinted at hw3 hitting the limit. Even HW4 is scheduled to be replaced with AI 5 next year so call it 2026. I don’t need a truck but I love the outrageousness of the Cybertruck, the tech, and the resistance to the Zombies when I travel to LA, or anywhere these days. I also think there’s going to be a significant update to the Model S this fall, but I could be wrong. I’m an impulsive car buyer generally and none of this is a real issue. I just don’t want to buy a CT and then something cooler comes out right away. it’s an silly factor though. That can happen when you buy any car. i could buy a CT and a Model 3! The rabbit Hole is infinite. Again, thanks for the thoughtful on target reply. I really like that white wrap BTW!

Not surprising, they are trying to get the factory in order before really ramping production. The current price is a great way to throttle sales so they can handle issues and get the trucks in the hands of those willing to spend the money and hype up the vehicle ... like me ... where's my truck Elon??? :giggle: :alien::geek:
