Anytime before 2021 would be aggressive I think unless they’re able to expand production quickly in the Fremont factory. Although the China factory is almost ready to start producing so maybe they could start producing the Cybertruck there if they wanted to get aggressive with launch date.
The Reno plant is also a possibility. Permits in hand. Just need to build more space, add equipment and staff. Reno gigafactory is only 1/3 built-out.

I vote for that they dont take orders. Remember Robyn is the Chair now, it will be done as she says. After all, EM got his way with the product, she has to keep TSLA afloat, and the more quantities and deadlines EM espouses the crazier the stock when they are late etc.

Good points. Tesla should only take orders at this point if they are confident in the delivery date. Maybe they can be confident. Maybe they can’t. Tesla has more production start up experience now. Model Y production start up is ahead of schedule. A truck is different than a car or crossover. Facilities can be quickly put in place. More building space needs to be built (already has local approval - Reno/Sparks).

Maybe they can be confident. Maybe not.

Seems like Fremont is maxed out with the Model S, X, 3 and Y production. Tesla already does battery, motor and frame (?) production for these models in Reno/Sparks. Maybe they can move more of the structural production to Reno/Sparks and use Fremont for all finish production for all models? Or just do all of the truck production in Reno/Sparks including the Semi.

Anytime before 2021 would definitely be aggressive. However, Tesla could already been tooling / configuring an assembly line to get a head start on producing them.

As for using the China factory, IMO that would be a mistake at least for the potential buyers in the US as most probably already own a pickup and tend to buy an American made vehicles.

I hope you're right.
