I wonder how many people would even notice or know the difference between the AWD and the Beast at any car show for the next few years.

IMO I think their jaws will be dropping with either.
The only difference right now, at a car show is the dog logo lol. People cant see your acceleration when you're sitting in a parking lot.

I still think the dual motor will get offered an acceleration boost package at some point. Lowering the gap between the two. I cant guarantee it ofc but thats the trend with the newer vehicles
If that is the case (I hope so), wouldn’t the beast also benefit?

No. The high end ones dont get it.

Model 3 and Y LR both got accel boost option. performance versions got slight updates but no real change to accel. Especially not a purchasable one

.6 seconds off!

that'd bring the AWD into the 3s (probably wouldnt get a full .6 off but if it did. thats 3.5)

I was originally going for the AWD and definitely will not be doing Foundation series, but I'm really interested to see what the regular Beast offers over the AWD.
I was never interested in the Insane/Ludicrous/Plaid of the S or X, or even Performance on Model 3/Y. The attraction of better 0-60 doesn't interest me and track mode on a truck seems weird.
If the difference is just the acceleration performance then I'll probably stick with AWD.
However, maybe there are some off-road improvements for production Beast, who knows? ?‍♂
For the OP though it's down to how much you want to pay to accelerate faster.

Ah, but you are still paying for the boosted performance, albeit less than the beast premium

for sure. Typically it's 2k and wont get you to beast levels by any means. But it's a far cry from 20k lol

I think the value is specific to the purchaser. The AWD is perfect for what I was intending on purchasing anyway. FSD, Powershare/install credit (bonus didn't expect) 35" AT's, Wall connector, all weather mats, Lifetime premium connectivity and nothing that I don't want or need. Works out perfect for me but that is just me me.

I can see where the Beast would be the ideal choice/value for others like @PilotPete that was going to get a Porsche sports car and that insane 2.6 is a dream come true
100 percent, this is the right answer.
some people don’t get performance car guys. We buy cars because of the experience, emotional connection, performance. We don’t generally buy cars because they’re practical.

Why buy the 911 ST when you can buy a 911? it looks like the same vehicle… You guys comparing a AWD to a cyber beast are saying the same thing. Some of us want extreme performance…. It doesn’t mean the AWD isn’t a better fit for some people just like a base 911 isn’t a better fit for some people. It depends on what you value…

I drive a Lightning and I don't want the CT that is less fun to drive than what I already have. Only by getting the Beast will I feel like I've upgraded. For anyone that doesn't already have an EV truck, the AWD should feel great. For us people who already have an EV truck, who wants to downgrade?

The truck is my every day driver. My gf is in the M3P. I will go from losing to her in stoplight competitions in the Lightning, to beating her. I can't be emasculated anymore! The AWD would put me in the wrong direction.

I wonder how many forum members have driven a large EV suv or truck that does 4.8-4.1 second 0 to 60. I know 2.6 is amazing but my wifes MY LR scares the hek out of people when you smash the go pedal and that is 4.8. The CT at 4.1 might sound slow compared to the 2.6 but it truly is screaming fast.

I get it, it you have the cash and the desire, 2.6 second TRUCK will amaze people. I would take it to a local strip and race some Camaro's and Mustangs just for grins.

Yea, I bought the model 3 LR and then got the acceleration boost. So when I got my model y i knew i had to get the performance or I would be slower then the 3 I had. Dont regret that decision at all. But with the CT I will be getting slower because I dont have Beast money lol.

I've driven the quad motor R1T (for like 10 minutes) and it felt awesome. Had some weird acceleration delay compared to when I mashed the pedal so that was weird. But I think I'll get over it. Because my wife will be driving the Y. so if I need to feel that .6 seconds difference I can just take it lol (if she will let me xD).
