While that is a great way to look at it, ICE heads don't seem to care so much about efficiency and cost.

They can put the equivalent of 1230kWh in that diesel tank..... (my regular gas Ram had a 35 gallon tank).
no, end of the day, one goes further than the other, full stop

I think the point instead is that people are variously all wound up about “what black magic explains that shocking result!?”

And that the answer is there’s no black magic.

A Ford Lightning ER has the ICE equivalent of a 13 gallon gas tank. It’s that simple.

There also aren’t ICE trucks that can tow any further on only 13 gallons, least of all in 60° weather at 70mph.

what is it had less than half the range you were told. Would 40miles work for you? You seem to think having 1/2 the miles is ok for everyone else. Let me guess no 40miles would work for you. At what point does a vehicle become not useful for its intended purpose? Maybe 20miles.
Okay, so I found your reference to 40 miles " Who needs 200miles of range anyway when most people do less than 40miles a day! "

Indeed, my previous answer of owning a Leaf stands. I know that the 88-mile Leaf would get a little degradation and that temperature and speed would impact it. And since this was 8 years ago, I knew the spacing of my DC Fast Chargers. So that was satisfactory for 40-mile commutes. And even then, I knew that there would be situations where I'd have to make a stop on the way home.

In other words, I had done my homework. I knew the real-life, not YouTube parameters of the Leaf.

That is pretty much the exact same story for the Cybertruck. While the initial numbers were nice, I did not expect them to be the same at production start. Once the actual vehicle was introduced and the range and price were known, I did the numbers and knew what the truck was going to do, over a month ago. I knew that it wasn't going to get 320 miles at 75mph. I knew that the reports were going to all be messed up because it was winter. I knew that the towing was going to be low.
The towing has surprised me at some of the recent numbers, I was expecting a little lower.

So, if someone gave me a 40-mile vehicle. For me, that's a grocery store hopper. If it was in a UTV package, it would represent a few hours in the dirt. It wouldn't even take me into town and back reliably.

If you were expecting to tow a 30ft camper across the country, stopping once every 300 miles. If you were expecting to haul a Bobcat 150 miles to a worksite. If you were expecting to travel from the top to the bottom of Georgia without stopping (not towing).
I've always suspected that the Cybertruck was not for you, even from its introduction in 2019.

You point? That you didn't do your homework?

ICE heads don't seem to care so much about efficiency and cost.
Some just hate EV's regardless of any semblance of rationality.
There are many others that hate the cost of operating ICE but can't or don't want to live with the longer trip charging nuisances & traveling charging costs.

:LOL:I wasn’t speaking to THAT at all

the fanbois have to reconcile that for themselves ?

“Oh, but it’s the OEM that gets the money, so now it makes complete sense for me as a customer”

You’re just repeating the rhetoric, which only has apparent meaning by juxtaposing the words “truck” and “sports car”

You’ll similarly be impressed to learn that there was once a man with no fight training who beat a championship boxer.

I mean, the boxer was the champion of the Jr. under 12 division, and the man was a 220lb blacksmith but ….

can you believe a man with no fight training beat a championship boxer?!

and I’m as surprised as you are that it’s so hard to explain something so simple

“You see, the thing is, a 220lb grown man who is a blacksmith, is obviously so much larger, and stronger, that it really isn’t very interesting or surprising that he bear up a 12 year old, boxing champion or not”

doesn’t seem like it needs so much explanation, but here we are
And I can't believe I have to try and explain how people would generally find a truck beating a sports car while towing a sports car to be impressive. But here we are.

That mostly sounds strangely similar to the CT scenario.

You have a CT on order?

Do you do much towing with your Leaf's?
When did Tesla quote the range EXCEPT during the initial introduction? People complain that Tesla is too quiet, they weren't putting out BS.

Yep, it should be on its way any day.

Nope, but I have with my Model Y.

which is funny because it always seemed like it took 20 minutes to fill the tank on my Ram! IF it didn’t shut off at $100 first.

Here’s a sports car:

Here’s a truck towing:

the Miata’s top speed is 116mph

That truck is towing that trailer at 142mph

guess which one goes faster?

And blow 800kWh out the tailpipe or heat emissions, since a diesel is only about 30% efficient.

I’ve got a dumb question about towing. CT will be my first EV but I have rented a Tesla a couple of times. All the charging stations I’ve been to have been stalls you back into. If you did need to tow a trailer any distance, how do you charge it the truck along the way? Are there pull through charging stations?

So what else were the potential buyers supposed to expect? So if it wasn't BS then what do you call it?

Cool, I think I will wait till the price drops 50% & range increases.

Lots of Tesla car buyers switching over, 160-175kwh & they likely would have not lost so many reservations of truck buyers.

Oh I dunno, the several years following the reveal when at ANY time they could have revised the numbers.
I hope they actually release the range extender, and maybe have an option for an even larger one. 60-70kw would still fit in the bed and give slightly more than half the bed capacity still, while giving a real world, keep up with traffic highway speed range of 300-400 miles. It would also drastically speed up charger stops, as the extra pack would barely affect highway efficiency while adding 100-150 miles of range.
want to take advantage of a v4 supercharger? There you go, dump the extra 100kwh charge rate into the range extender pack and pile on those miles fast!

Which one of those vehicles do you think would win a 1/8th mile race on a straight track?
