How has the truck been out and all these reviews been done and no videos towing showing range, handling, ease, comfort etc?! That was one of the main concerns with this truck and all EVs yet none on the reviewers have posted anything.
And does this thing have a trailer brake controller? I have to have one and prefer OEM as it always integrates better

yes, this has been talked about and there are UI screens in threads here and videos showing the built in brake controls.

UPDATE: I had this saved off in a UI folder -- integrated regen controls are a benefit over OEM

So can someone explain how this system works compared to a conventional squeeze controller. E.g. How do you test that the brake gain is correct while driving down the road? I'm not trying to down a CT just don't see how you use this.

I understand your question as I've used a manual squeeze once when my Jayco camper was starting to sway behind our Ford Expedition. Steady accelerator and manually brake the trailer reduced the <insert body tense joke>.

It seems like the Rivian you can set it to use the 'Right Scroll Wheel' or something on the screen (image below blown up). The model X only has a OEM electric brake trailer AFAIK and there is a 4-pin connector for it under the dash.
Rivian YT 5:25 (link) says same thing for its manual brake control option.

FYI, Rivian recently got a towing update where in the first X part of a mile(s) it will try to calculate the impact of the trailer on efficiency and dynamically adjust. Ford has you enter some trailer characteristics (size, axles, flat/rectangle, etc) to guess. It may adjust on the fly from there. Ford also looks at a database of other Fords that have towed on that same route. This was in Ford's official YT video and not some guess by influencers.

There have been zero independent reviews.

The reviews done were by people given early access to Tesla media vehicles.

How this game works is, a “journalist” only gets access if they they adhere to certain limitations (eg not enough time, or not permitted yet, to do towing testing).

Subject to those limitations, they can say whatever they want. Of course, unsaid, is that they might decide to play nice if they want to be given early access ever again.

And of course the journalists do want to have early access again, since these “first” reviews generate a lot of clicks/eyeballs/$.

For more thorough reviews, it’ll need to come from people who get their hands on the truck the more natural way.
