After 4 years of waiting and Cybertruck reaching almost mythical status in our household, I finally got the email have been waiting for last week. Like many others, I couldn't justify spending $100k on something I had planned to spend $60-$70k. I also decided that waiting for Tesla to fix some of the first run bugs is a good idea.

So to make the next couple years of waiting easier, I traded my trusty 2017 Model 3 on a new inventory Model Y Performance. It was such a good deal at $40,100 after POS credit, I could not pass it up. (could have got 2.5 of them for the cost of the FS Cybertruck) I' took delivery yesterday and I'm feeling good about my decision. I waited 4 years for this truck, what's another 2?

Yea, after all the info that has come out the Model Y seems like basically a slightly smaller cybertruck at 1/3 of the cost.

And hey you don't have to worry about things getting wet in the back!

Plus a good amount of towing power!

I did the same thing in Dec. I had intended to sell my 2018 model 3 and Tundra for the CT, but I tow with my truck and with no long range CT in sight, I'll just keep my tundra for truck duties for now. Hopefully in a few years they will be able to deliver on the long range version they had originally announced, but until then, the Y was just too good of a deal to pass up. They actually offered me decent trade value for my 3 at the time, so it was only about 20k difference to upgrade from a 5.5 year-old awd 3 to a performance Y after all the discounts and tax rebate.

I think the CT just proves that the battery tech isn't where it needs to be for a towing truck.

Hey to all those that chose to pass on the CT and get a Y or something else, good on yas!

I think the last few weeks have taught us that the CT is not the vehicle many hoped it would be and clearly not the vehicle for everyone!

im happy with the FS CT as it meets my needs and wants but I can totally see why it doesn’t fit the criteria for many others. Especially those that were planning on towing.

Hope the vehicles everyone choose bring you all amazing joy!! :)

I'm in the same boat. Just got my 'ready to order' email and I'm thinking, do I want this thing?

I have a 2018 M3P that I might just hold on to, until they come out with a deal where I can transfer my 'still in beta' FSD to a new vehicle!

Same boat here, except expecting my The Email any day. I bought a Model 3 a year ago so as to become educatified about the Tesla stuff, before making the big jump into Cybertruckery.

But now I really like the Model 3!

What to do, what to do...

I got my invite 12/15 and ordered the AWD CT FS. It didn't take me long to make a decision - 5 minutes to be exact. I refuse to wait another year or two for a better cheaper CT. It will most certainly be improved in time, but cheaper? Nothing gets cheaper these days with massive deficit federal spending which neither party can get under control.

The pricing of the CT may have been a huge disappointment for many, but if you put aside that 4-year old price guesstimate Tesla put out there for a vehicle never before conceived or brought to market, $80K for a dual-motor, multi-purpose, long life vehicle is to my mind a bargain. The extra $20K is for FSD, a bunch of other goodies, and a chance to juice your TSLA shares as a Tesla EVangelist.

Have you ever wondered how Elon makes the impossible late (and profitable)? He creates innovative, compelling products that put the competition to shame, and charges a premium to be the first to own them. He's never made an EV at a negative gross margin. Every one of us that buys a CT FS will help propel Tesla to new heights in vehicle engineering, manufacturing, sales, and a sweeter smelling, quieter future. We are, in a big way, part of the Tesla juggernaut.
