Hoping someone here can help. We had someone break into our Cybertruck on New Year’s Eve by smashing the right rear passenger window. Luckily that appears to be the only thing damaged but the earliest I can get it fixed is February 6th through Tesla Service.

Can’t drive it until it’s fixed so I’m kind of stuck with a non-drivable CT for over a month. Tesla support hasn’t been overly helpful. Safelite can supposedly replace it on the 11th but I’m not holding my breath that they’ll pull through.

Anything you can think of to get things expedited especially considering this was an act of vandalism/theft?

Talk to your representative about requiring manufacturers to have spare parts available.

Good luck with Safelite!

@Crissa The representative being the Tesla Service rep? Is there a requirement for manufacturers to have spare parts available. I’m in NC if that matters.

Thanks for the help!

I don't believe there's any regulations or laws requiring them, but there are in other countries. Currently manufacturers prioritize parts going to manufactured units for sale rather than parts to repair units that have already been sold. It's not just a Tesla problem.

Sorry this happened to you. Out of curiosity, was sentry mode active and did it record or notify you when it happened?

@thrillbourne Didn’t have Sentry mode on unfortunately. Nothing was recorded.

They smashed the window, laid a hoodie over the broken glass and climbed in through the window. Took a few bags, checked the center console and climbed out. Never opened the door.
Bummer. I'd try taking it in to the SC and ask that they give you a loaner until they can replace it.

Why can't you drive it? Does the truck detect the broken window and disable high speeds or something? Can't you tape some plastic over the window and keep using the truck?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. That really sucks.

Oh I can. Drives perfectly fine but I don’t want drive around with a broken window when it’s 40 outside. Plus don’t need any more people staring at me driving in a CT with a plastic window. Get plenty of attention already?.

Did they leave the hoodie?

Visit a general glass shop, see if they can custom cut and fit thick plexiglass
Then caulk in without making a mess
It won’t be secure
But done right can help keep inside dry

Sorry to hear about this.

Based on your pic, and since the glass is laminated, looks like they had a glass breaker and cutter. My understanding of laminated glass is the glass would crack but still be stuck together and the person would have to repeatedly smash and pull it to remove it. But if they have a cutter, it makes it a lot easier.

I’ve been curious how easy it would be to smash the window to get in the car.
