i am aware. 2500 still rated above the duty that the CT was targeted toward.
So the straw-man argument about 3500HD dually was intentional. Ok.

But that still doesn't explain why the cybertruck is lower duty than current year Silverado 1500/f150/Sierra/RAM 1500. Or why the cyberbeast tows 20% less than an f150 (which was specifically promised).

I didn't expect it to compete in the 250s, but I expected it to outperform the 150s. It doesn't, and its twice the price of an f150.

Sam. You seem to own every Tesla, and usually I get paid to answer these questions via a in person focus group.

Sam. Can I ask you the same question. Each time. Did you get a sinking feeling?

In Michigan I used to do them all the time. $300 bucks for all my experience as a owner of an EV. In Michigan I would get picked up and took to a building within GM proving grounds and we would all meet in a room and answer questions. Great thing is I lived close by.

Sam. You could have made extra coin like me. Sorry to say that most of the people that buy Cybertrucks currently are just like you. They are loaded and have tons of money. Unlikely to have that remorse you speak of.

Indeed.

The point is real world duty is competitive as promised. No one is buying an f150 or Silverado 1500 to tow 10,000-13,000 pounds on the regular. No one should be buying a CT to tow 11,000 lbs regularly for work duty.

Huh? Don't you mean the Cybertruck tows nearly 20% more than the F-150. Before you respond, check the specs.
I did, maybe you can show me what you're looking at.
- Tesla 2019 cybertruck event shows trimotor at 14,000lbs
- Telsa.com 2024 says 11,000lbs on the $99k Cyberbeast
- Ford 23-24 f150 with max tow package is 14,000lbs

If the specs were reversed you wouldn't be making the same argument.

Let's see, someone creates an account with the name of their question.
They list that they own every Tesla.
And they are from Michigan.
Let me see if I can help.. Tesla is the best vehicle I have ever owned. If you are in the car media from Michigan, you are compromised and bought, thus nullified.. write that in your article please. Need any more info from me?

Oh, you are talking about the ICE, not the Lightning EV.

Ok, sorry, the Cybertruck didn't meet the towing capacity of some of the largest engine F-150s.

But since you are looking at a 3/4 ton diesel, you are really talking a different category than a 1/4 ton pickup.
3/4 ton pickups are a very small niche int today's market.

But this thread is "Buyer's Remorse" Doesn't seem like you have done anything except maybe place a reservation.

eh, i don't think so. If the CT was rated to tow 13,501lbs (1lb more than the top spec 2024 f150), my position remains the same, neither truck should be considered for heavy duty work day in and day out. A person would look to a f250 equiv or greater at the very least for this. Any person doing this type of work should know this.

Took delivery 1/22. Love every bit of the truck. Really enjoying it. By far the best tesla so far, and I have owned all of them except a Y.

No but seriously… what car manufacturer/ media is footing your salary? Just be honest
It's pretty obvious it's a so-called "journalist" looking to do a hit piece on Cybertruck to try to limit adoption rates. Big money interests are keen to paint the Cybertruck as undesireable, as a fad, and there are plenty of corrupt journalists willing to further that narrative.

All it takes is quotes from one or two Cybertruck "enthusiasts" turned haters to reinforce the false narrative that no one wants one, that it's a flop.

It's sad what journalism has become these days and the number of journalists who don't seem to have any ethical issues with becoming part of a disinformation campaign is troubling.

Fixed that for you, since ICE/EV argument is irrelevant. (y)

i have a hard time believing CT is (or will be) so in demand that people will pay over sticker for a used one. i'd like to believe it, but i just don't feel it. "but there's 2 million orders".

Nope. The Cybertruck costs very roughly the same as an F-150 Lighting and beats it in almost every metric.

With respect to gas f-150s, it still competes well with the most popular trims. Non truck people often don't know that truck manufacturers always publish the tow and haul ratings when equipped in a specific manner, but that most trims do not come anywhere near the maximums so widely advertised.

Where the Cybertruck blows away all varieties of the F-150 is in toughness and resistance to common forms of damage from hail, shopping carts, construction sites, baseballs, paint chips and scratches, dents and door dings, scratches from off-roading, etc. It turns out the "Ford tough" doesn't mean much.
