Took a trip to the Pismo area, which was about 180 miles each way. Only stopped to charge for 14 minutes in Kettleman City and 45 kWh were delivered in that time. I was at 12% state of charge when I arrived. Didn't get the Wh/mi, but I am now down to 405 Wh/mi. Most was 70 mph driving, but the parts in the curvy areas you were alternating between 30 and 50 mph.

Made the mistake of taking the truck to Riverpark in Fresno, which is pure insanity without a Cybertruck. Never doing that again! The truck in the beach town drew small crowds, but nothing besides a few pictures and quick conversations. I hope more of you get your trucks so people aren't so shocked seeing one!

The front truck is pretty useless for any type of luggage. However, it is perfect for my golf clubs!

The front hood is a slaughterhouse for insects!

I lived in Washington State for 32 years. I-5, as all the interstate highways, are funded federally, not stately.
That's not how highways are paid for. Federal funds are only matching funds. Also, projects have to be approved locally.

Kinda explains why the roads are so bad if you expect the feds to pay for them for you, ?

-Crissa

PS, it's okay, hardly anyone knows how all this works. I barely do, and I regularly attend the Regional Transportation Committee's meetings (and read volumes of documents, and even I'm not really that deeply in it) to try to influence how that money is spent.

No, but your comment is IMHO.
Ok, let me explain... One is NOT supposed to be "political" on this forum but the OP posts that he is fearful of "republicans" in his town doing harm to his truck. In the meantime, we have another new thread, (from a NY poster, but the CT is in SF?) where his truck is harmed by (given the logic used in this thread) "democrats" however that is not called out.

Many (falsely) think that if you want an EV you are a liberal and if you don't then you are a conservative.

This is incorrect, and blatantly false....... thus, this thread is BS. PERIOD!

When did I ever say that a Republican would do harm to my truck? You are making this political. I just said that live in a small Republican truck town and was expecting negative reactions because of the online narrative. I never once said I was "fearful" or anyone would cause harm to me or my truck. I was just surprised at the positive reaction.

Please quote anything you inferred because you are making stuff up. Your post is BS. Period!

Some of us are here to know and learn from fellow CT owners. These type of “first impression” threads are extremely useful to hear diverse perspectives.

Name dropping a political party doesn’t make the thread political. As the OP admitted above, he didn’t say anything political. Wherever there are people, there will be politics. It’s up to us readers on what value and knowledge we can parse out from all sorts of random conversations instead of labeling the entire thread/people/state as Good vs Bad. Probably that’s precisely what’s wrong with our society nowadays.

When someone keeps looking at political BS everywhere, even trees can be labeled into left or right depending on the direction wind blows.

The problem with a board like this is the loss of the non-verbal cues. Emojis help a little but there still is a huge gap. The OP says politics was not his intent and I will take him at his word. He however did allude to what I often observe; the left thinks the right are bad people while the right thinks the left are people with bad ideas. A subtle but huge difference.

If I overreacted, then apologies to all.... I mean that. I do see the occasional little political "digs" and "innuendos" on the board, I normally just ignore them and move on, but this one struck a chord. Remember, you are not paranoid if THEY are out to get you.

Now, I will go back to driving on the right side of the road. (that's a joke to go with the left leaning trees :p )

I can't stand the left or right in this country right now. :p This is my political stance and hopefully it is the stance of most people right now. We hear the extremes on both sides, which are very vocal online and full of hatred, but in reality I think more people are more moderate and accepting of others in public.

My fear of my car being hit by sledgehammers or having lead balls thrown at it is from the social media idiots. If they do this, not only will my truck record them, but they will also incriminate themselves posting it on TikTok or YouTube.

I posted the following as a separate post for people who are paranoid about having a low range estimate in the beginning. My first charge was 234 miles at 80%, which is equivalent to 293 miles. I charged to 100% last night after 1255 miles travelled and my estimate is exactly the same as what Tesla said it should be.

Thank you, Dan for saying that.

I will add one last thing. I participate on a couple of forum/chat boards, and this is by FAR the best run and moderated. Very well done!

My compliments and thanks to our CT Owner Club's @Administrator for doing an outstanding job.

Agreed on the observation. It's like that in regards to everything on social media, not just politics. The few extremest on ANY topic (sport teams, Tesla, hell, even musicians) are louder and put more effort into things to make it seem like a lot of people are up in arms.

PLEASE keep us updated! I personally appreciate all your efforts in providing your impressions!!

One thing I forgot to mention is the charging experience I had. The first time I charged to 80% it was 234, then 240, and it got up to 245. I then charged up to 100% the last two times, the first was 308 and the second time was 311. It keeps on going up for me each time. :p So don't be worried if the first time you charge you get a low range estimate.
next 100% should be 318!
