Because of Tesla’s mistake, I missed picking up the cybertruck. Very disappointed

Update,

Tesla's Brain called me and said he would give me some updates next Tuesday, hoping there would be good news.

Tesla previously gave me two options:

1. Cancel the order and lose $1,100.

2. When my neighbor comes back from overseas, notify Tesla that the cybertruck can be picked up within 2 weeks.

I refused them all. I hope tesla will resolve our account issue and pick up the car in the name of the real owner of the order, which is me.

Tesla staff were very pushy during the communication process and they seemed unable to change any mistakes. They canceled my pick up and were not even willing to return my car payment of $110,373.21. After I protested, they said they could consider returning it to me after 15 working days. All these years later, Tesla is still a baby company. If similar customer service existed at Amazon, Apple, BMW, Rivian., I think my problem would have been solved within an hour.

Dude, you can have your CT in two weeks. A lot of us on here ordered during the night of the reveal. Not only are we waiting on a VIN but that wait could go on for months.

It seems obvious that whoever owns the Tesla account that made the order has to be there for pickup. So if your Tesla order has multiple parties: A Spouse, A Family Member, A Trust, A Friend, A Neighbor, A Company - better have all parties including the order placer, present at pickup.

This is very unfair to me. Brain saw the documents I brought to prove that my cybertruck belongs to me, and he also admitted that there was an error in the Tesla account. But I missed my cybertruck. I need to get back in line and if I want to quit I will lose my 1100 deposit. I was so angry but there was nothing I could do.
On the 2nd page of your purchase agreement there is an arbitration email address. Email them the information and they will contact you.

This sounds very suspicious..."consider returning" you the money? I am guessing they wouldn't return the money to you, because they were under the assumption that your neighbor owned the truck, and not you. I know your neighbor is overseas, but can he call Tesla while you are there to help settle this?

They make mistakes too. I took my BMW to BMW of Austin for service. They emptied out the car and sent it to Dallas to be sold as a used car. I was really pissed. Got it back a couple days later. They threw in a free detailing.

So mature dealers make mistakes too

Ok I’ll say it.

Dude nothing you’re posting passes the sniff test.

Frankly I think you tried to put one over on Tesla because you thought you were the smartest guy in the room and you got busted.

the whole “this was my truck in someone else’s account” and “my friend is out of the country” smells bad.

I’m calling bullshit.

Oh and his name is most likely not Brain. It’s Brian….

The question hasn't been answered, did the original $100 reservation deposit made by your credit card in your name? The $1000 order deposit?

Yes, the vehicle is in the neighbor's account,...".
Finally cleared that up.

"Neighbor's account" owns the reservation and if converted to purchase, the vehicle. Nothing gives OP grounds to claim ownership. Any monies paid to take possession also belongs to...duh...account onwer. Which, as OP states, is not him, but "neighbor."

I agree with this. As weird as this whole situation is, if we sign a contract by giving tesla our $1000 deposit, they become liable when they take the $100,000. It can't be one sided.

Everyone seems to be missing what OP is saying, and assuming it's all just lies. OP is asserting that tesla has 2 accounts that were originally in his name, one of which he became locked out of. At that time, his cybertruck reservation was transferred to the same account that his model 3 reservation was transferred to, and despite attempting to get tesla to fix that and transfer his cybertruck reservation to the 2nd account in his name, they were unable to do so.

This isn't that far-fetched of a story. Tesla probably went through and tried to purge duplicate accounts, and so they thought his original account with the original model 3 order was a duplicate because the model 3 order was transferred to his neighbor. They deleted that account, transferring the cybertruck order to that account. And honestly, I don't blame him for not wanting to push again to get the order transferred to his current account from his neighbor. All of the people who tried to transfer anything were assumed to be doing so nefariously, and their orders were being deleted. So why would he assume that tesla would handle this case any differently?

My neighbor and I are very good friends, this was not a resale, I just transferred my model 3 order to him in 2018 and Tesla mixed our accounts together.
Tesla Accounts have never been transferable.
Reservations for Tesla vehicles have never been transferable.
Orders for Tesla vehicles have never been transferable.
An individual cannot have multiple Tesla accounts.

You messed up. Stop blaming Tesla.

Today I went to Tesla Irvine, California to pick up the Cybertruck that I had been waiting for for 5 years. I paid it , but when I arrived at Tesla, the salesperson unilaterally canceled my pickup order due to account email issues, and refused to refund the deposit and car payment. It has been confirmed that the account issue is Tesla's mistake, but my CYBERTRUCK cannot be pick up, which is really disappointing.
I’m willing to bet there is more to this story but if not that’s not right.
