I am looking to get all "glass" tinted for CT. I need some inputs please. I have heard that if you tint the roof glass, it would void warranty. Is this true?
I have a quote with Llumar IRx nano ceramic (high heat rejection). Any inputs would be appreciated. The price is reasonable since I will wrap with UPPF at the same time. I have heard people prefer Xpel IRx. What is the difference (from user point of view -- not spec related)? Is the vision clear at night (for either one?)? What about heat rejection?
My plas is below:
Front Windshield: Llumar IRx 80
Top glas: ??? I heard 30 is good enough, I can go darker --- suggestion please.
Front driver and passenger -- Llumar IRx 50 (or may be 30)--- debating, since I don't want it too dark due to visibility at night, just want the heat reduction
Back passengers -- Llumar IRx 30 (or 20)-- the darker the better. :)
Any suggestions, inputs would be greatly appreciated.
I do not want too dark due to night visibility, so the reason for lighter on windshield and front drive and passenger (and no cop issue). Heat rejection is my main purpose.

Thanks all for your inputs.

Went to 2 respected shops in DFW. Both this was the first time they tinted a cybertruck. All material used was 3M Ceramic IR.

Shop #1: Went 15% on the side windows. That install went easy and it is completed with no defects.

Roof glass was a challenge. Went 15%. Originally was installed but ended up with light gaps at the front. This was due to the sensors that are on the glass under the trim. Shop tried to cut the film around the sensors by hand and failed. I had them take it down and will address at a later date.

Shop #2: 50% on the front windshield. This was a challenge due to the size of the glass and how far of a reach it was to the bottom of the window. Took 2-3 installers to do it. 3 days have passed and I can see some film damage and bubbles. Shop is going to redo it.

Just saw this video today on the roof glass so I will need to determine who I trust to take the sensors down and reapply. I will only go 50% on the roof the 2nd time around. If I could drive to cali to have these guys do the roof I would.

Who did you end up using? I am in DFW also looking for a shop.

I went 3M, but my thoughts:

Side windows 25% IR ceramic. Looks great, decent match to factory rears, but it's slightly lighter, and looks even more so if you leave windshield clear.

Windshield 75% Crystalline. Very difficult per installer. Took 2 tries. First time had scuffing and distortions due to uneven stretching. Had it redone, and looks outstanding now. Much cooler inside, and even with the light tint, it blocks clear vision to the inside from the front. I think with the steep angle it gives more reflectance than just the numbers would suggest. Strongly recommend if you find a very good installer.

What was your total cost? I have a shop asking $600 just to tint the windshield only. That seems a bit high for just one glass but I'm not well educated on this so any thoughts?

It's basically the hardest piece of glass to tint on any car. I was quoted $1200 for the windshield, but only $2800 total (everything but rear glass, which I felt isn't needed). For the expense of the film in question (autobahn i3) I was quite happy with the price.

This is actually a great deal. A lot of shops are charging over a thousand, if they are even willing to do it. My shop needed 2 attempts before it looked right, so really they probably ended up in the hole on it.

lolno. Just got the quote for tint.

Tesla tells me so little information each time I ask that I'm not even sure what's happening anymore.

Someone else has one coming here, was told 4/6 ETA to the showroom. I have a weekend trip coming up (so would not be here to pick up the truck), so I asked for the eta to see if I can finally be sure that our trucks are travelling together. They gave me so little info that I honestly am not even sure what they meant. If I read between the lines, my ETA has now slipped from 3/27 to 4/2 to 4/8 to now 4/12, and the truck is still sitting in Austin, despite being marked "in transit" weeks ago.

Alternatively, they already figured out we have been sharing ETA info, and they assume I already know about the 4/6 ETA.

I no longer feel bad nagging them for updates. Several times they have given me no info, and when I ping them again to clarify, a separate person answers with slightly more info.

I went with XPel only because I did not like the hue shade of Llumar, but they probably preform very similarly. I went 70 all around for night visibility, except glass roof which I did not tint because it appears to already have very good heat rejections from factory.
Thank you. The price quote is the same for XPEL Xr Plus and Llumar IRx. I will make decision soon.
