The Denali EV truck should be similar specs, very nice looking. Side by side, would seriously consider over a CT except the user interface would undoubtedly suck.

As someone who was very excited about the 500-mile range spec, It's tempting to favor the Silverado now. But here's the thing, what I was excited for was an EV truck that is so *efficient* it could achieve 500 miles of range with a battery that isn't comically heavy and bulky. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

But the Silverado is going to drive like a tank, and be as efficient as a Hummer, with it's 200+ kWH battery and very high price tag. No thanks. I'll make do with Cybertruck's 340 miles of range, plus the option to add the range extender later on if I feel like I really need it.

As a Tesla stockholder who watched developments on EV trucks, this is indeed concerning.

First, Ford was first to market but got glitchy trucks and got sabotaged by greedy dealers.

Then Tesla with CT with so-so range and shocking prices departing from expectations of superior range nearing it's semis and prices of $50 to $69K.

And now this Silverado with better range and more choices from basic pro into high-end..

Yup, have had a significant amount of Tesla stock. To see Chevy leading the way with range which is the #1 reason for EV resistance, and Ford putting out a more reliable product very disappointing as a shareholder how the CT specs and rollout has been. Tesla needs to buckle down

If I recall correctly, the WT4 and hummer EV share the same battery, and the hummer EV is widely accepted as a monument of excess and inefficient engineering…

it’s a little shocking to me to see a community here (and investors) change their opinion based on a a body change (prolly oversimplified but directionally correct)

The trucks will be great (for the few they will build). Unfortunately, like Ford, they will be such a money pit to produce that shareholders will get fed up with the billions sunk into these they will bail (or get bailed out by the government). That doesn’t mean the trucks they do produce won’t be actually pretty fricking good, just that the end game is inevitable.. and yall can bookmark this … I tried to tell the Lightning people I know that Ford couldn’t keep losing the money they were on the lightning, regardless if the truck is good. Gotta be able to make a vehicle efficiently and at scale, and at a price point to make money…. Chevy will go the same way

We'll see if they keep their promises.

But miles per hour charging, matter. And it doesn't really have them.

Pretty amazing and also considering it’s targeted to come out this calendar year first half even…
Nice design.

The RST nor WT are for sale yet. The Silverado EV RST is $1000 more than the non-Founders series CT AWD w/ extender and gets 30 miles less than the CT's. The WT doesn't have a price that I can find, but the range is 20 miles less than the CT.

The RST is supposed to come out before the WT, but the big question is will the RST come out before the non-founder AWD w/ extender.

So either they both don't exist, or the CT is leading.

CT is wonderfully innovative but the Silverado EV, if you watch all the various videos, looks to be a more usable truck. The consumer version has lots of nice features like the folding midgate that allows up to 10' 10" loads and a much bigger frunk. The CT's driving dynamics are probably sportier but DennisCW rented a Silverado Work Truck (steel springs) from Hertz and thought it had a more comfortable ride - the air suspension versions should be even better. Also, unless you really like Tesla minimalism, you are going to appreciate that it still has buttons and stalks for the operations you don't want to dig through menus to use. It has a display in front of the driver and even a HUD. The versions with the massive range and charging speeds have 24 module batteries but the Silverado EV will be available with 16 and 20 module batteries at prices that probably undercut the CT and have greater towing capacity yet still match or exceed the CT for range.

In the end, it is all about choice. If you are hooked on the CT, go for it...it has a definite cool factor and is a good truck with some limitations. It is nice to have other choices that extend the usability of EV pickups. Perhaps where Tesla goofed with the CT is that doesn't seem to be as flexible a platform to build out on.

The Silverado gives up clearance, driving performance (think moose test), and towing weight capacity for those batteries to get its range.

Like Out of Spec said, it's 'dumb range'. One way to solve the problem. And that's fine. Each truck should be differently capable.

Out of the full sized trucks we've seen demonstrated so far, the Cybertruck acts like a much smaller truck, while having a carrying/towing capacity and landing in the middle of the pack range-wise.

This isn't bad. The Cybertruck isn't going to be the best at everything. But neither will the Silverado.

And who knows when we'll actually see any of them made in the numbers announced. Ford raised their prices and just ruined their demand. The only real way to get one at the prices promised is the used market. Silverado is fleet-only. Who knows their production numbers or when the consumer versions will get here, and if their prices are sustainable. Cybertruck followed their prices into the stratosphere, but had more than enough demand to keep their ramp working.

Sports car minivan hybrid = Cybertruck wins by a landslide
Long range work truck = Silverado wins by 100+ miles and 100+ kw charging speed

Chevy beating Tesla by such a large margin is a huge disappointment as a shareholder, truck buyer, and CT fan.

My primary point was that, as consumers, it is nice to have choices. Each truck has aspects I like and, in the end, I - like everyone else - will purchase based on practical, emotional and financial decisions. I am not getting commissions from selling either one so I have no skin in the game as to which you choose.

In my case, one factor in the buying decision is only indirectly the truck itself. It is the performance and cost of bi-directional charging capability. Where I live, electric rates are sky high. Being able to make money off of the battery in the truck is an important consideration. While the trucks themselves are expensive, the price per kWh of battery you are paying is dramatically less than home batteries like the Powerwall.

See, you keep saying 'work truck' and then selecting the truck that carries and tows less mass, less safely.

I think of work trucks as getting to rough worksites, carrying heavy awkward things, towing things across town. Having more handling when the weather gets rough.

Not pulling someone's toys long distances.
