Thats right I bought an ICE today. I have been telling everyone since 2016 that I will never not buy a Tesla. It was a tough decision, but a 120 days waiting for my Vin # I did a lot of reflection and reviewing other trucks.
1. I need a work truck.
2. I need to tow boats in 500 to 2000 mile R/T 5 to 10 times a year.
3. My job sites are regularly 100+ miles away, and remote.
4. The CT is half the 2019 range promise and twice the $
5. My S is smart and beautiful, the CT was supposed to be smartest ever to overcome it's looks. Rear steer and by wire is smart. Bullet resistent, smart.
7. 123 kwh not smart, no parking sensors not smart, drag cd .384 not smart, $20k FS premium not smart, giving the Kardashians priority over the faithful not smart.

I still have 2 reservations and $1k order and still want one, but now I can wait another 4 years, 1 month, and 120 days to see if Tesla can actually deliver it smarter than the other trucks on the market.

Think we're all tired of waiting, had I known I'd still be waiting I would have bought a rivian or a new diesel 2 years ago - but here I am, close but still waiting!

.384 CD is not smart compared to? Only that R1T has a better CD iirc.

The $20k FS price will age like fine wine. CT needs to get FSD and power share fully working with load shaving, tou, etc. for it to really be worth it though...

This one point will cap the sales of the Cybertruck.

I had projected the Cybertruck would cost in the "90s" and got flamed on this message board that I was wrong....Tesla was going to come thru on their promise of a $50,000 truck.

It turned out that it is just not possible. Thus, many many people of the reservation list will never buy a Cybertruck.

I do hope Tesla will eventually get to 200,000 a year in CT sales, but IDK. If the price never comes in below $80,000, I just don't know if it will be possible.

You make a lot of good points. The long distance boat towing is definitely a nogo for the CT. Best of luck!

EV’s are just not quite ready for prime time for those that need to to go 300+ miles each way.
we take our X 310 miles to the beach and stop once each way. It still miffs me that you buy 350 mile range and then they say, don’t go below 20% or above 90% regularly. So, you take off 105 miles and the usable range is 245. Towing nearly halves that. So 120 or so.
ya know what? I am okay with that.
getting retired so chatting at a charger will just be a bigger part of my time.
in town use? EV’s are the best by far!!

Would love to hear what you bought. It makes sense and it was the smart move for your situation.
I love that instead of being a fanboy, you simply chose what was best for your situation.
Currently there are plenty of situations that the Cybertruck fits perfectly as well as Gas and Diesel.
I have 2 gas and hoping to add the CT. I think it will work very well.
