After a bit of a whirlwind, I finally took delivery this morning (12/8 Order, 3/21 VIN issued). Tesla called me this past Wednesday to let me know the truck had come in and was ready to be picked up immediately. The only problem was that I was halfway to San Diego to board a Disney Cruise ship (four nights) with the kids for Spring Break. Luckily, I had already gone by the delivery center a few weeks ago to make sure they noted that dates I would be gone on vacation. I took the call, the gentleman looked at the notes and said delaying delivery wouldn’t be an issue. We disembarked the ship at 7:45 a.m. this morning and I was headed to Tesla Irvine by 8:30 a.m.

My delivery experience was no frills, but very thorough. The delivery person asked if I wanted demos and complete walkthroughs, but I declined. I had him note a few issues (several deep scratches, front trim garnish fitment issue, front light bar dirt/dust intrusion), we put in service requests for and we were on our way. The entire process from start to finish took less than thirty minutes.

The car was an immediate pleasure to drive. We currently have two Model X’s (2017 and 2022) and I must say the ride felt immediately more refined. That’s saying something considering the 2022 Model X was probably my favorite ride right up there with a few GLS Mercedes vehicles I owned in the past. The controls are typical Tesla as is the design language minus all the hard lines, which I love. The only negative thus far is the brakes and the charging curve. The brakes feel squishy enough that I may consider an upgrade very soon. The charging curve seems significantly slower than our Model X’s, but I was prepared for this. Actually there is one more downer. I will be unable to get the car wrapped until Tesla can address the scratches.

By the way, I’m 6’7 and this photo makes the vehicle look small. This is some type of optical illusion because i can assure you I was floored by the dimensions. It’s bigger than I thought and I’ve been close to them several times before, but always wrapped.

Now only if Liverpool hadn’t dropped two points this morning, it would have been the perfect day! Haha. Congrats my friend and let us know what wrap you go with!

So there’s a funny story here. I was streaming the match while listening over the car speakers on my drive to Irvine from San Diego. I saw an exit for Manchester Ave four miles down the road. I told my wife it was foreshadowing. By the time I made it to the exit Mainoo scored what sounded like a wonder strike ??ā€ā™‚. I’ll let you all know what color wrap I go with. #YNWA

How’s the cruise going knowing that your new toy is back on land?

Congrats.

Can't see the scratches in your picture, hopefully they are minor.

The charging curve is really disappointing and will likely get addressed when they start producing the non foundation trucks.

Enjoy!

Congratulations! Maybe I'll see you around town. I'm in Newport and patiently (not really) waiting for Beast VIN (112756XXX). I'm told by Tesla rep expect 4 months after configuring (12/11/2023) I'm counting the days and checking app daily after 4/11/2024.

Congrats!!!

I got the FS invite a month ago but staying on the sidelines until the non-FS AWD version is ready to order.

My wife and and I visited the Irvine SC once I heard the showroom CT was unlocked and open for people to sit inside, touch, etc.

Her first statement was ā€I can’t believe you want to buy this ugly thing. Itā€˜s hideous lookingā€.
