I love these types of questions.

If they aren't ready to say, it's a waste of a question.
If they are ready to say, it would have already been said.

And the Cybertruck is pretty irrelevant to Tesla's bottom line.

That can literally be said about any question.

Ok, I'll go with you.

But let me change my response

Probable savings:
EST. $76,390*

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
  1. DELIVERY IN 2025

and Purchase price

EST. $79,990

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
  1. DELIVERY IN 2025

Anticipated delivery is clearly stated.
No large differential in savings, I believe, is indicative of no tax credit.

But there is one more line.....

Cybertruck is likely to qualify for the federal tax credit later in 2024.

So, you ask the question and get no additional information.

That's for new orders placed now. Existing reservations might be different. Good try though

I still believe the CT would qualify for credit as is. They just don't do the paperwork because they don't want people to hold out for non FS.

But the simple fact that it says 2024 for tax credit and 2025 for deliveries of non FS is contradictory because FS wouldn't qualify for tax. This means it may start non fs in 24

Ok, yes, I guess non-FS AWD could start this year. But they won't know when, because they still aren't into full production, they are still ramping.

You make statement that FS wouldn't qualify for the tax credit. The definitely is debated. The AWD FS vehicle currently being sold is $79,990. (with a $20,000 additional FS package). I've seen arguments on both sides as to which number the tax credit covers.

They're not going to charge us less unless people stop converting their reservations. And then (historically) they cancel all the reservations before reducing the price.

Of course, except the Model Y, all prices made it down to the reservation predicted price before they refunded reservations.

History is slightly different though. At least for Y and 3 because they weren't like limited editions.

Idk about the signature series as that was before my time.

I dare say that the first Model 3 edition may be nearly as rare as the Cybertruck FS will be.
And there was a huge backlog for Model 3s as well.

Meaning, with the models you are talking about here, they gave you a chance to buy it if you pre-ordered, and if you didn’t pull the trigger on the limited edition, they canceled your reservation and you had to get to the back of the line like anyone else for a regular model?

Coincidentally yea the first three probably will be. Maybe more. But they weren't marketed as limited. At least I didn't think they were

I can field this one:

"We expect to begin shipping the non-Foundation Series later this year. Tax credit eligibility TBD."
Later this year would be huge news!

Not really. When the reservation page opened after the delivery event it said "Delivery in 2024" and those reservations were/are for non-Foundation Series vehicles.

So I think sometime before year-end is just consistency. Now, it could just be 5-10 trucks the last few days of December. 99% of 2024 trucks could be Foundation Series.

Here's the speculative read: as Tesla gets farther down the reservation list they are encountering less and less rabid fans and/or reservation holders who didn't plan to spend $100+K on a truck. Somewhere between Q3 and Q4 forces start to balance with higher production volumes, lower rework rates and lower order conversions where Tesla will flip the switch on regular, non-Foundation, vehicles. If interest stay high, or go higher, it could be in early Q3. If rates start falling and order conversion rates still meet their targets then expect the switch to non-Foundation to happen in Q4 but either way we're talking about a 2-3 month difference. I could see the switch getting flipped in November, good time to adjust the line and would help explain soft Q4 production. If Tesla needs that excuse earlier, to explain Q3, then it may be as early as August.

It wouldn't be the first time Tesla missed a delivery target tho.

So it would still be big news for me
