INEOS is currently developing a new, slightly smaller BEV 4X4 called the Fusilier. No specs yet, but will include an optional gasoline-powered range extender.

Interestingly, the Fusilier is being co-developed with Magna, an Austrian company that will also handle the manufacturing. Magna is a truck/military vehicle company that originally created the Mercedes G-Class (commonly known as the "G-Wagon"). Magna manufactures the G-Class, but it is marketed as a Mercedes. Magna/Mercedes are expected to release a BEV G-Wagon in 2025.

The G-Wagon is one of the most capable and luxurious 4X4s that you can buy, as long as your off-road vehicle budget is $150,000+. INEOS may be targeting a similar market, but at a lower price point.

I would expect the 0-60 time for the Fusilier to be considerably improved over the gas-powered Grenadier. The pre-release G-Class EV that Car&Driver tested did it in 4.1 seconds.

I test drove one about 6 months ago. I loved it except for the old school recirculating ball steering. I had to constantly make minor steering corrections to keep it going straight down the road. It was a deal breaker.

Fusilier is on hold for now...

Well shoot. Guess I'll have to budget for an electric G-Wagon instead, starting at $162,650. Fortunately I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek that I can trade in.

G580 - the electric G - is available in the US. Specs aren’t great, only 250ish miles of range and I believe it still has a legacy CCS charge port. Maybe in 6-8 years when the used ones are closer to $70k but still not sure as the rear seat is tiny and I have three teenagers who grow every time you look away.

This is a cheap piece of shit and does not even come close to beast comparison. An actual embarrassment.

I know a guy who owns one and he loves it. They are supposed to have really good drivetrains. There is a dealer in Colorado Springs.

Steering is shit. I had one of the first preorders, arrived November 2023. Thank goodness I test drove them when the test drive vehicles arrived a month earlier. Did not enjoy how it drove.

They look so cool, but whatever you do, test drive one first. If you are coming from a CT. It's going to be no bueno the moment you drive this.

Also way to small and uncomfortable, not suitable for anyone over 6ft, packaging is really original Defender generation 70-80s, gas guzzler despite BMW engine.

No thanks, better off buying a 5sec BYD Shark for half the cash.

Why would you make a comment with no basis In fact ?; you know a guy who owns one really?

The drivetrain in this truck is a severely detuned six-cylinder BMW sourced engine that requires a lot of maintenance. INEOS detuned the engine some 100 hp and the result is very sluggish sled. They do this to never have to fix this engine under warranty.

The result is a compromised truck that’s trying to appear retro while having modern conveniences that conflict daily. But if you like slashing your steering wheel back-and-forth to stay in a lane and mashing the gas pedal to the floor every time you want to get out of the way of traffic, then be my guest.

Seems easier to just buy a 2020+ Land Rover Defender which costs about the same, has a nicer interior, nicer rider, better steering, braking, handling, much better tech and can rock crawl and highway cruise with few compromises. Maybe that's just me.
