One of the last things I did with my father (a retired physics professor), in 2012, was demonstrate what we could do with an iPhone (talk, navigate, music, etc.). He couldn’t speak but his eyes sure twinkled in appreciation and he smiled for our selfie. He died a couple of weeks later.
That's funny, I had a similar experience, when it was first revealed in 2019, I thought it was a cruel prank and that Elon was going to pull a ripcord that caused all those flat panels to drop away leaving a stylish truck underneath. But as Elon explained how it was made, with super hard stainless steel that couldn't be stamped into compound curves, I started to get it. Then the look started to grow on me, and when Elon said ordering was open I was frantically placing my order. When the truck was first unveiled, I hated it. For about 48 hours.
Needless to say, I came around, but here’s me right after the event (after proclaiming for months publicly that this was going to be my next vehicle):When the truck was first unveiled, I hated it. For about 48 hours.
Same thing. I remember those renders!Needless to say, I came around, but here’s me right after the event (after proclaiming for months publicly that this was going to be my next vehicle):

This fan render was "meh, ok" for me, as I wanted an actual truck that was tough and could take a beating. This type of design, like all modern pickups, is fragile. I'm sincerely glad they didn't go this route as now it looks so insanely dated lol. What I thought I was getting up until that night:
