$2,500 Power Share Credit and Sales Tax

Why is Tesla charging me sales tax on the items I am purchasing with credits, for not getting Power Share that was included in my original purchase? I already paid sales tax on the entire original purchase when I registered my truck at the DMV.? I should not have to pay sales tax twice.

If I had to guess, it's the difference between a voucher (discount code) that zeros out the cost of the Gateway Bundle and a store credit (gift card) used to pay for an item (and tax). I don't know if there's any legal accounting requirement to do it that way, but it definitely seems to be the mechanics of the site.

There was no tax due with the voucher.
