I turn my back for just a second and apparently all kinds of drama broke out. This is what I get for taking some time offline. For the record I have been in contact with Tesstudio and I haven't asked them about the allegations here. I know several of the Chinese suppliers copy some of the same products. I just figured they got them from the same manufacturer overseas. I am really hoping that those same vendors are not patent infringing on US companies. As far as I can tell I have not put anything up that has been questionable in terms of patent infringement. I do not support this practice and I would ask that if another vendor believes they are being wronged by something that is on my channel to send me a message so that I can take action.

In terms of getting things late I ordered my seat covers from another vendor on here and it took 2 months for me to get them. It took 2 weeks to ship them and they sat in California with US Customs for about a month before being allowed to continue on their journey. I just replaced them with some from a different vendor and it took 2 weeks. I am not sure how the distribution works, but I have seen some long delay times in getting some products while others have no issues. However, what I can say from personal experience is that a lot of the products I review are actually pretty good and I do my best to point out if there are defects in that product.

To be perfectly candid I just received a product from a vendor on here for review that won't make the channel because it wasn't up to spec. If I get a hint of shaky stuff it is not going to make it to the channel.

I’m not buying anything from ANY of the drop-shipping companies that are selling these rip off products. It was bad enough trying to decipher their AI-generated descriptions and not laughing at the AI-generated images on the sales pages, but for them to simply copy and paste the images from other companies that are creating innovative and original products to advertise sub-par knockoffs was the last straw. Tesstudio is only the most egregious example of this. And not the only guilty party.

as for CarPlay in a Tesla - tried it and immediately remembered why I hadn’t missed it for the past few years. Tesla software is just better - and I certainly don’t need a touch screen behind my steering wheel

also creative/constructive criticism? Maybe show the screen a bit in a video about a screen? The install could be a separate dedicated video perhaps?

Redfire given all the issues with this screen such as the brightness not synching with the main screen and adjustments can only be done while parked, and a very basic set of UI choices that lack customization, etc (all things available on screens for the Model 3/Y) would you go through this extensive installation process again knowing what you know now about how the screen operates? I also have a hard time with it not being adjustable and their answer is just buy a yoke steering wheel whereas on other vehicles some of the screens are also adjustable. As I understand it the door panel removal is required to get this screen to work but all those door sensors get you is the ability to show if the doors are open or closed on the 2nd screen. I would give that up in a heartbeat if it meant not having to remove the door panels which again other screens for the 3/Y don't require.

As separate hardware it would be garbage, but built into the screen, as most OEMs have it, it would be a great addition. I have a ton of HomeKit stuff, that would be fantastic to have i.e. Garage Doors that show on the CarPlay "DashBoard". Having Waze running in the background getting notification about traffic and police, that Tesla does not have. Better sound quality for Apple Music(and almost any music app) vs Bluetooth connection. Better Messaging integration, better eyes off integration, etc. All these things are true for Android Auto as well.

Tesla's Software is great, but the fact that I have to take my phone out to check things every once and while driving, means it's not perfect. When I drive my vehicles with CarPlay, the phone goes in the glove box, and I don't touch it while driving. Big difference.

Do you not use the integrated Apple Music app as opposed to using Apple Music on your phone connected via Bluetooth? I don't use Apple Music, I use Spotify but I don't stream it from my phone with Bluetooth, I use the integrated Spotify app and the music sounds great. I understand you may need CarPlay for other items you've set up, but I am wondering about the Bluetooth streaming comment. Of course it would be nice if Tesla provided a WiFi hotspot for the vehicle, not sure why they don't... and yes I know there are aftermarket solutions for that...

I have a browser-based solution that runs on the main screen that I was testing out. The box powers by USB and you connect the tesla wifi to it and point the browser to a url. It's just not great. Very slow and clunky. Used it a few times as a test and it's just awful overall.

Coming from many other cars which had CarPlay, I get that the homekit functionality was a nice to have, but not being able to granularly control which devices showed on the screen was always my least favorite parts of the software - it would show my wife's garage, but not mine and there was no way to change that. Having automatic garage control via MyQ in all three of our cars and also Homelink in my 3 are way more convenient overall IMO.

I still check all my homekit (over 75 devices) stuff but just use siri - if your phone is connected just say 'hey siri' while you're driving and it'll respond even if you're not using the BT audio (which I never do, almost always have Apple Music or Podcasts running on the main screen).

I use a magbak screen mounted MagSafe charger for my phone, so I can still see when things come through and with the eyeline of that mount it will automatically unlock the screen if I look at it.

3 years of using nothing but Tesla software as an iPhone / homekit user I wouldn't go back to CarPlay even if they decided to add it. Waze integration would be a nice to have, but they've been adding a lot of that type of information lately.

Drop shipping from China is not against the rules of the CTOC. These companies are up to you to purchase from or review, and parent infringement is not the problem in this case.

The issue that often arises with these companies, and reason tesstudio got into trouble, is misuse of other company's digital assets to misrepresent their own products. I'm this case, they had watermarked and stolen images from MarsAG to misrepresent their products to customers.

I like the Apple Music app. Sounds much better, but then I can’t use Siri, or more importantly Waze for “traffic” notifications. HomeKit integration is also nice with CarPlay, my other vehicles that have had/have CarPlay would bring up my Garagedoor opener when I was pulling into my driveway. I also think Tesla has a great app for navigation, but CarPlay has some great off-roading apps that work much better. CarPlay also supports apps for 3rd party accessories for lighting and such which is also nice to be able to control on your native screen, vs having to get your phone out and mess with it.
There would be no negatives to having CarPlay in a Tesla(for the user), it’s just something that Tesla refuses to do, for reasons. As any fanboy for any company will tell you, we let the company get away with a lot of thing, and make excuses for them, but it hurts us the most when they really miss something.

For myself, no I would not do it again. Not because it's not a good product, but because I'm not a big CarPlay/Android Auto guy. However, there are many that are and really want this functionality. I can personally live without it, but there are some advantages to it as I will detail in the next video.

While it is not integrated with the Tesla system this C9 unit functions pretty well as you describe. I noticed several advantages to using it. Do the pros outweigh the cons? That's an individual decision that I'm hoping to help with in the next video.
