Just ordered one of these. My ideal positioning would be just behind the sub trunk hatch.

I either received a defective item or this is just poorly designed. I cannot seem to get this thing to align properly, and even when I have it aligned perfectly with the L-Track on both sides the center latch refuses to completely engage and lay flat. I watched some reviews online that indicated that Tesla redesigned this thing a few months back.

Anyone have any luck getting this to work as advertised?

I put mine in the same spot. I've had it for 6 months now and only ONCE did I get both sides to lock in place. Usually I just have to slot it into one side and hope cargo sliding around doesn't knock it loose. If anyone has any tips on getting it to fit, I'm all ears too.

I bought both a third-party and the Tesla one. Here’s what I can say my third-party one stopped working where it doesn’t push out enough to engage the L tracks on both side it’s too much a hassle to send it back so I’ve just eaten that money.

With my OEM version I had a similar problem that after a few uses the latch would not close so you telling me that you’re seeing it too sounds like a manufacturing defect that Tesla should look at. My solution has been rather simple once you get it lined up where you want it to go if you extend it by pulling on the left-hand side or pushing it in towards the L track depending on how you look at it this fixes whatever is going on with the latch and allows you to engage. I hope this works for you, let me know if this is in anyway confusing.

I might have a fix for your problem. Mine had a problem latching when I first got it. I'll explain the way it works, and how mine was missing a part. BUT NOTE, mine is a third-party model. So Tesla may have designed there's differently. The issue with it not latching is that when you latch it the discs that engage the L-Track holes are pushed out by rods at each end that have a spring. If they are assembled correctly, you can start pushing the latch then move each end of the divider fore/aft slightly until it pops into place. Mine was defective. It was lacking the spacer and spring at one of the ends. So, when I would engage the latch there was no pressure to engage the discs. See the two pictures. one shows with the correct spring and spacer in place. The other shows how it was received, with missing parts.

Mine was through CyberGearCo. They were great at sending me the parts I needed. I suspect that Tesla's designed the same way. All you'd have to do is remove the nyloc nuts right below the discs at each end, then see if each end has both the spacer and/ spring. These nuts can also be adjusted to give more or less spring pressure if needed. Best of Luck!

I cut Into the rubber bumpers at the bottom so it lines up better. The bed floor was updated and the grooves on the bed floor interfere with the proper positioning of the divider. Look at the bottom of the divider and it’s obvious. Cut a bit off the bumper at either end of the bottom of the divider.

Yea. Not to sound like a crybaby, but If I have to modify the accessory in order to make it work then that definitely sounds like design flaw. Hard to believe Tesla would sell a product that just doesn’t work as intended. There are tons of posts on YouTube about this but I just assumed that these issues were resolved in the 2.0 version Tesla released. I’m gonna play with it more today but honestly on a road trip I just want things to work and if I have to sit for 30 minutes to adjust positioning of this then I may look into third party options that have the adjustable base feet.

I agree that it shouldn’t be, but it is. I was Going on a trip with a dirt bike and the divider needed to work so I did a little field expedient re-engineering. Got r dun.

I put mine in in less than a minute and have moved it many times since with no problems. If you can find someone near you that has one, compare theirs with yours because I noticed the divider can be tricky.

There was an update made to the OEM design at some point (I think early last year) to help with this. I received mine in November 24 and mine had the newer design.

If you look on the bottom of the rail, there are rubber pads held down by allen or torx screws. I went to remove mine to try reprinting a shorter one, but the new design actually splits the pad into two layers and you can remove the bottom most layer and screw it back together without it, giving you about 1/4 inch more play. No need for printing. Seems like they added this "adjustment" for this exact issue.

I wound up adjusting one side, and testing it and it was perfect as is -- so only did it to the one side. Despite several removals for bikes, I don't know if I alway put it in the same way, or it just doesnt matter which side faces forward for it to work :)

I've read (on this forum) that sometimes the bed cover gets a little bowed, which would cause thie need for a little extra play like this -- rather than deal with scheduling service to try and fix the bow (I have other issues I want service to focus on, like the "cricket" or strange pulsing sound at 30-35mph), it was just much easier to make this adjustment and move on. Took 5 minutes, and my divider goes in like butter and stays in.

I also bought one from Teslaunch and the locking handle does not close properly. I tried to get a replacement from Teslaunch. Joe the rep said ok but it never arrived and they stopped communicating. Seems to me they are having a lot of issues with the cargo divider, it is not working properly. I would never buy from them again. Lousy customer service.

I got one from Tesla and found that it will not work "just behind" the trunk hatch. This was due to the height between the floor of the bed and the L track not aligning - the divider sits too high and it will not engage. As I moved it back, about 6 inches or so away from the edge of the hatch, the height between the floor and the L track is slightly higher and they aligned.

Then it is just a matter of aligning the holes on the left and right side of the l track-

FYI -- Try the adjustment I mentioned a couple of replies up, I keep mine right behind the hinge of the hatch.

Got mine to work in this location by sitting onto the one corner of the divider.
