We made it to Daytona after our 475-mile one-day trip from NC! It was great trip. It didn’t even feel like we were towing anything. Smooth.

Average range towing the Airstream Trade Wind 25FB was 147 miles per full charge. Our average wH/mi was 821. We stopped 4 times, for an average of 35 minutes of charging each stop. Went to 100% once. We have our 6-month-old along with us. We’d be stopping this often no matter the vehicle. We used the stops to grocery shop, change diapers & feed, and other tasks

We didn’t have to unhook at any of the stops. They were chosen strategically based on map/satellite data. Columbia SC, Yemassee SC, Brunswick GA, Jacksonville FL. This is a Foundation AWD with Free Supercharging.

There’s a Supercharger across from the speedway where we top off. There are no hookups in the infield at Daytona where we are camped, so we’re running the Airstream off of the truck directly from the 50a outlet in the bed. But the Trade Wind has 40ish kWh of lithiums, and solar, which we use mainly.

Loving it! Incredible vehicle and experience.

Of course, but I didn't specify any pure metal or alloy at all, only that one stainless variant was with another. The aluminum on the Airstream is 'stainless' too in appearance, even though it might not be called that often, which I simply chose to because the appearances were what were similar relative to the vibe I was pointing out.

I was noting the similar appearance, not being too concerned about specific industry trade names or such.

Awesome stuff! Glad to hear there are more pull-throughs coming along - it's hit or miss in the south and I've gotten quick at unhitching.

How are you finding the trailer range estimates where you enter the heigh/width/length/weight? the truck seems to way overestimate and thinks I'm going to burn around 1100wh/mi, when I usually get around 720-880wh/mi depending if I go 60mph-75mph. It doesn't seem to adjust for the coefficient of drag unique to each trailer. I had to tell it my trailer was a weightless 1ft cube so it would stop trying to reroute me. I calculate my wh/mi and percentages by hand on each charging stop so I can figure out exactly how much I need to charge so I can reach my next stop with a minimal 5-10% buffer and optimize my charging curve. Fingers crossed we'll get better range estimates with future updates.

I'm at 17k miles and around 20% of those have been towing my airstream basecamp. I installed a Shocker hitch which dampens trailer jerk a bit. Another benefit is it seems to add just enough length (maybe an inch or two) to where I can fully lock the steering wheel without risk of the trailer hitting my tailgate in sharp turns where the rear steering kicks in. Really comes in handy maneuvering crowded parking lots. Only downside is I had to dremel out a square so the airbag would clear the lower valance.

Nice. I experienced the same numbers with our Basecamp 20ft trip through Oregon and California. Also same numbers towing my Willys M38 on a 500 mile trip to southern CA desert. But you're so lucky to have pull through chargers. California has very very few. To help with power I used a 3k watt Jackery power bank with Solar panels to charge the truck while camping and it maintained truck and gave me 185 miles in 7 days camping out.

awesome story. I loved it. Thanks for sharing. I will share this story too. The more people realize the potential of not just the CT but of EV the better it will get.
