CT charging? So they put in new chargers in Brighton MI and was wondering if these seem to be at optimal operating charge? Here are a few pics my screen reads while I’m charging. I’m not super familiar with electric batteries and voltage and all that but I’m just wondering are these optimized or is there a setting in the cyber truck that they need to turn on or something to make these are much faster charger. Any recommendations or thoughts would help

How much preconditioning did you have before arriving?
It's mot saying charging Is limited by equipment so the site doesn't seem to be the bottleneck.

Yeah, don't Supercharge in your hometown, especially in cold weather. Always navigate to a Supercharger at least 60 miles away, and preferably 100 miles away. This allows the Cybertruck to recycle waste heat from the motors, motor controllers and central computer back into the battery pack. The warm coolant will gently flow around each cell, warming it to an optimal temperature for the fastest charging with minimal battery degradation.

Use Level II charging at home or work.

Yeah, that seems kinda slow. The ideal charge rate drops as SoC increases:

So, the pack was probably too cold. Pre-conditioning will improve charge speed.

Preconditioning a Tesla Cybertruck’s battery and cabin in temperatures below 30°F typically takes 20 to 40 minutes, depending on factors like ambient temperature, battery state, and initial cabin temperature. For colder conditions, closer to freezing, the process may lean toward the higher end of this range.

Whenever supercharging, also make sure to navigate to it because that’s what triggers the battery preconditioning. It does need time to get the battery to the ideal temp.

Ibhave a supercharger 5 miles from my house and when I navigate to it, it’s not enough time to warm up the battery to get optimal / fast charging rates 180+ kW.

It varies, you can check the pack temperature in service mode. Navigating to a Supercharger (when in drive or park and not connected to an AC charger) will engage around 16kW of heating.

I think the OP might be a little close to the supercharger for warmth to really kick in. I would suggest an expensive sandwich at Zingerman's in A2 and then back to the charger in Brighton maybe on a Saturday end up at about 12-15%. No speeding;)

As a side note I have hit 318kW on that charger.

That's false recommendation. Of course you can supercharge locally. 1 mile down the street if you like. Just precondition (via schedule in app) to get battery up to temp. You do need some sufficient amount of battery to do this as it does take a not so insignificant amount to precondition...

Not always. If the Supercharger you are navigating to is far enough away, and it's not too frigid outside, it will use natural waste heat (vs. lossy heating) to slowly warm the battery. This is more efficient which is why it's important on trips to aways have a long-distance route entered in the navigation.

For the same reason it's a good idea to charge before reaching your destination (or at your destination with Level II) rather than planning to charge first thing in the morning.

App based preconditioning isn't going to get the pack to peak Supercharging speeds. You need to be unplugged sitting in vehicle with it active (drive or park) to unleash max pack heating.

There is nothing "false" about my recommendation, it's based upon increasing the overall efficiency of your trip (and it makes a significant difference while reducing battery cycling). It's always better to use waste heat to slowly warm the battery as you drive than it is to use the battery's energy to quickly warm the battery.
