Sure, but laws vary state to state. Directly in between me and where I like to go camping is a good 150 miles of UT roads where even people towing are traveling at 80 miles an hour.
Yeah, most people can get away with enough common sense and knowing the risks, but if someone wrecks with a trailer going that fast they will be subject to the State Highway Patrol throwing if book if it's really egregious.

You’re not wrong but when the speed limit is 80 miles an hour I just don’t see a lot of people dropping back to 65 especially in this particular location. It’s a lot more egregious when the actual speed limit is 65 or 70 but that’s not what we’re dealing with in this part of the country. At some point by not going with the flow of traffic, you become the hazard.

And as you must know, when the speed limit is posted at 80 the real speed limit is 85 to 90. Everyone goes five over - at least.

Still, professional and responsible drivers are expected to maintain a safe speed for the cargo they are hauling. Loss of control because of the rate of speed being too high is a very common occurrence.

Having read this thread I think it's ironic that a video providing hard data so people who stress about battery longevity can relax and stop stressing, causes those same people to keep stressing even harder about battery longevity.

So ironic. Couldn’t agree more.
I was even trying to reassure the audience a few posts back that in the real world, there is nothing to stress about.
From direct personal experience.
It’s reallly ok everybody. These batteries are amazing and your cars are amazing and they will remain amazing for at least ten years that I know of. If they don’t, that’s an outlier case.
Use them how they best fit into your life.. That’s what you spent the money for.
My advice, open the packaging, take the action figures out and play with them. You only live once.

-All batteries lose some capacity over time whether you use it or not, so use it! Mileage very little factor in wearing out your battery.
-Teslas lose much less battery capacity than other cars.
-For batteries like a Cybertruck, keep it plugged in but only charge it beyond 60-70% when you need it. Fully charging to 90-100% is fine but do it just before you leave so that the car isn't sitting there at full capacity for a long time.
-Supercharging doesn't hurt the battery at all.
-Hot temperatures are bad for the battery. If you live in a hot climate, try to keep it cool when you can.
Neatly explained, thanks mate!

When I got my 2018 Model 3, I read all of these battery posts. I read about cathode cracking at 3.92V and anode plating, etc. If you look at this graph, that 3.92V change is approximately, 63% SOC. Notice the vertical dashed line at ~63%, and the drop by 65%.

So, as an experiment since I didn't have more than a 25mi rt commute, was to only charge up to 60% SOC for daily usage. Now for roadtrips, I'd charge up to whatever was necessary. It's okay to charge up high, as long as you don't leave it there. So, what was the result?

I'm at 6yrs 4mos now. And, I'm currently showing about 4% deg, thru SMT data. But, up until the last few months, my battery was still using the upper buffer, and showing 100% EPA-estimated range, and I was far above the normal battery deg.

For clarification- set charge at the level you need (include your worry buffer)- leave it plugged in when you can-follow the on screen estimates for next charging when on the road- flip it in drive (Beast mode if you have it) just relax for the next 10 years, AND never read another battery degradation post again.

I used grok ai to setup a schedule for me . Basically I charge every few days a hour or two. Like right now it’s sitting at 41%. By Sunday night I’ll charge it up to 55%, on a normal day I use 7-8% tue wed Thursday can be be 10-13% a day depending on my driving styles. If I’m late. I run it like my model y. If not I just fsd it or drive normal and it stays on the low end. So Wednesday night I’ll probably charge a few hours as well . It is hard to not have range anxiety. Hell I have it right now. Wondering what if the fam wants to goto the beach or somewhere tomorrow lol

If the on the previous night I have a "what if" idea of travel tomorrow, I just set it to 80%. Easy choice every time.

So how do you use grok to do that?

I monitored my use for a week and then told it what % I want to be at to never go below 20% and. Never go above 60% With a 5-10% buffer. I then also gave it data such as what charger I would be using etc if you give these ai all the information and then tell it to make you a plan. They will.
