The front motor is loud like really
I have never noticed a front motor sound in my Beast ever. And I drive in silence without any music on very often too. I would try driving a different Beast and see if that noise is still there. Well, I mean, I do hear a high pitched whistling type sound that I associate with all Teslas (we have a Model Y Performace as well)...is that what you are calling the motor sound? It doesn't bother me at all; if that is what is bothering you? It was my understanding it is very intentional so these electric vehicles aren't totally silent for safety reasons. You want bikers,a nd pedestrians, and such to be able to hear something approaching them from behind. They could allow these vehicles to be virtually silent, but that would be a safetey issue then. I don't think the sound is inhererent to the motors...it is a purposely fabricated sound to break the silence.

My neighbor actually has some other brand of electric vehicle and that intentionally fabricated whistling sound is way louder than our Teslas.

Also, I have read people that have bought silencing kits for very cheap, like less than $100, to put sound-proofing stuff in their door jams of their Cybertrucks to make the cab quieter (including road noise), but as I said it doesn't bother me so I never bothered looking into that. I actually kinda like the sound and would porbably miss it if I did that... ?

Now I am stuck again because I know for what I do awd will be a better drive and better over all use of the truck. But will I be able to live with my self driving down the road and saying why didn’t I get the beast …
Yeah, pretty much this is what me and most everyone one else have been trying to tell you, some very bluntly, some in very eccentric ways (me), over the last ten pages of this thread.

It is simply up to you. You cannot get a third motor with Beast mode without dropping an extra $20K, so it is completely irrelevent if it is a "good value;" the decision is based on these two variables only:

(1) Do you want it? And, (2) can you afford it?

The (1) part implies you are taking into consideration any potential regret if you don't get it. The (2) part implies you are taking into account if you really can afford it and won't have buyer's remorse because that extra $20K put you in a difficult financial postion.

If the answer to both of those questions is "yes," then you get The Beast.

If the answer to either one, or both, of those question is "no," then you get the AWD.

The difference between 3.9 and 2.5 is even larger. ??ā€ā™‚
From a time perspective, yes. But from an increase in G-forces applied, it’s comparable. From an absolute force applied, it doesn’t compare. And when comparing ā€˜increase of g-forces applied’ per $1, it’s not cost effective. ?

Tesla Cybertruck CYBERBEAST or AWD (WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY AND WHY) Algebra GIF Count on Fingers

I just know that the tiny sports car crossed the line a half second before me in my CyberBeast and the 2-motor Cybertruck came behind me 1.4 seconds later... ???ā€ā™‚

I went to nearest service center today to get the recall service for the plastic roof piece that fall off and to get the light bar thing that comes with the vehicle to sort of delivered / installed today and I got to drive an FS non-beast CT. For 99% of driving I couldn’t tell a difference. The seat & mirror settings even followed me in to the loaner CT.

I have not had the loaner for a few hours. I once pulled in to traffic quickly and didn’t notice a difference from the beast. I purposefully stomped on the gas while doing about 30 mph to see what acceleration was like and then it became noticeable. Going from 30-50 was obviously slower, but my daughter still giggled when doing it, so it’s not exactly a slouch.

My non-FS AWD is in for service (again) and I was given a FS Cyberbeast for loaner this AM. My comparison:

  1. The CB definitely has a constant front-end motor sound and high pitch sound and more noise with regen sound. In fact, I never heard a regen sound until being in the CB. (These noises are NOT loud. They are NOT annoying. But, they are NOT present in the AWD... at all.)
  2. The AT tires are definitely louder and noticeably rougher than the Pirelli's.
  3. Loaner CB is grey interior: (This is pure preferential)- I prefer the firm dash in my AWD c/w the soft Alcantara dash in the CB. Otherwise, I really didn't notice any interior differences b/w the two (i know there are differences but none really stuck out to me).
  4. I was on the highway and wanted to test the Beast acceleration c/w AWD and.... I heard an alert ding. It capped at 85mph as a loner so - couldn't compare the two.
  5. I hear about the CB "clunk" going over bumps and this front favoring front wheel vs rear wheel. I noticed no difference in my 30 min of driving thus far c/w AWD. No clunk over speed bumps or pot holes etc.. I'm sure it is there, but with my casual experience it was not noticeable.
All in all, it is really a different riding experience in the CB c/w the AWD. It is NOT good vs bad IMHO. But they are two different rides - like 2 different trucks altogether. I thought I wanted a CB but now I realize I lucked out on getting the AWD.

Interesting. I need to go test drive an AWD sometime. I rented a Beast on Turo before they offered demo drives then bought one.

I personally feel like the 0-60 is too much fun to give up, even if the AWD is smoother and quieter.

I found getting a chance to drive the AWD to be very enlightening. I would never trade my CB but I like the way it feels more refined. The Beast is raw and that’s what it should be. I guess I could take my CB out of beast mode and maybe that would tell me something/be more comparable to the AWD, but ?
—that’s not gonna happen!

I guess I need to do the same. I only know my Beast.

Maybe when the stars align I will get a second CT and get the LR AWD version. I kinda feel the obligation to join Noble Team soon (they need my help ??ā€ā™‚); but I don't want to lose my current wrap. So, maybe just two CTs?
?

My 2 cents, if or when I buy I will be getting the AWD. The only difference that matters to me is the motor. If it had bigger brakes, different interior, and maybe few other upgrades it might be tempting, but it doesn’t. I love Jeep Wranglers, I bought a 392, I absolutely loved it (minus the gas mileage), but driving it fast or Using its power was something I did maybe 4-5 times a year and only on straight always. That last part is the key, I like power, but I much prefer it on cars that handle and STOP well. Waste of $20K in my opinion. The AWD is faster than you will ever need 99% of the time. Is the 1% worth $20K?
