Stupidest question of the day, maybe the week. Cyberbeast or keep my regular CT?

So, here is the scenario. I have a foundation CT, found a foundation Beast. About 20k more money, which is what i would have spent had I done it out of the gate.

Other than the blistering speed off the line, what advantages do you see with the CB on a regular basis? I talked myself out of the speed in favor or range the first go round but other than hauling a trailer a few times I have never had any range issues in about 13k miles.

There's a guy on X, @thecybersurgeon? who has both models, and I think he much prefers the Beast. Maybe you can ask him.

I really debated getting a beast. But when I checked the specs, I didn't see where it was any faster for "normal" driving. Sure, on paper, it was faster at 0-60... but only when you put specifically put it in launch mode (which seems pretty inconvenient). But what about 35-80? All the specs I saw had the AWD and Cyberbeast being identical. This obviously assumes that those specs were correct.

Then on top of that, it steers worse, is much louder at highway speeds, is arguably worse for off-road due to the rear differential, has less range, and costs way more.

I broke it down for how many times I would actually use launch mode, and realized I would be paying about $2k per launch.

I don't know why part of me is still sad I didn't get one.

It's faster and quicker. It also has a different logo, screen when launching, and a different dash. The AWD has 2 lockers and the CB doesn't, other than that they are same vehicle. Speed is really the difference much like the Plaid vs the Long Range.

I think @dalton108 summed it up best:

"So, to sum this up: you do not need a CB. I don’t need one. And if I had to do it all over again I would still buy a CB, because I am flawed as a human being and need to be able to own the quickest baddest version available. It’s ridiculous! Don’t do it! "

The CB has more horses than the CT, they don’t go away when at speed. So 35 to 80mph is still quicker in CB than CT.

CT has two mechanical locking diffs, the CB one mech locking diff in front and uses torque vectoring software for the two motors in the rear. The CT may feel more consistent off-road and CB is more flexible (software can dynamically adjust). I havent seen a comprehensive off road performance difference review between the two versions so no idea which would come on top. On loose terrain the CB should do a bit better. Handling on road feels a bit sharper/precise in CB also. No idea where your ā€œit steers worseā€ comes from - i drive the CB daily, feels great (torque vectoring should actually help with directional preciseness). There is also no ā€œmuch louder at HW speedsā€ - yes there can be a bit of a whine when accelerating but cruising is more quiet than my wife’s M3. I experienced motor whine in the CT also. Range difference as reported is 20mi - your driving style effects range much more.

There are some internal material differences such as the dash cover and perhaps some other lil things i forgot.

Worse steering in that a CB is reported to do some skipping sensation in the steering when hitting a pothole, etc. at lower speeds. Many people have reported the AWD having a more stable steering type of feeling that one would normally get in a rear-wheel drive vehicle vs what one would experience with a front-wheel drive vehicle.

If it helps, I talked myself out of a Cyberbeast in favor of buying whatever replaces it in 4 or 5 years.

maybe a quad motor with electronic braking (thus, vector braking). If we can get that, then... oh boy...

4 wheel vector braking and power would be. insane.

This either means you wouldn't launch enough, or I launch too much. I've done it way more than 10 times.

If I had a truckload of money I would buy a cyber beast just because I could. But I love the AWD foundation version. Never sell it.

I wouldn’t take the depreciation hit just to buy a slightly faster version of the same vehicle. I guess depends on money. If you’re wealthy enough where $20-50k is basically zero, then do whatever.

Not to brag or anything, but I’m rich enough to where it’s basically $19,999.98 to $49,999.98.
