Got the .26.4 for a few days and I’ve been messing around with Grok. Buggy it is for me, other than Ava non of the other voices worked/said anything. It’s Spanish is quite good but other lesser well know languages can be a bit of a joke. Assistant is good and helpful, story telling meh, conspiracy mode dumb.

my biggest issue with grok is what I experience on the Mac/phone app also; its answers too verbose and always ending up with questions. It is therefore not really a speaking partner, it’s more an interviewer - makes me tired after a while. Not sure if it can be given instructions on how to respond as with the app version.

it did seem to figure out fairly well when I was talking other others in the truck or directing my talk to it.

Other feature I was looking forward to more than grok was road noise cancelling but it seems our trucks aren’t getting that (with this version at least).

Anyone else with interesting take away from this version/Grok?

Did you link your sign-in so that it has all of your account settings available? The first release is going to be very conservative and likely slow development going forward since the automotive regulatory bodies are not only archaic, but the absolute worst red-tapped bureaucracy imaginable.

I bet it was a nightmare enough just to get approval for this version of Grok installed.

Well… pleasantly surprised with the native Grok which was included. Seemingly unbiased so far..

I hope it stays as such going forward.

it basically feeds from many sources on the interweb.. or so it seems

I asked Copilot and Grok the same questions and the answers were very consistent, about the CyberTruck, VW I.D. Buzz and some local useless information about my city.

I am still waiting for the update...

just got the update yesterday. I'm typically 1.5 to 2 weeks behind the very first rollout to gen pop.

Thanks! That's promising. Hopefully I get mine soon. I want to rave out in parking lot when office gets stressful.

I got it yesterday. Tried it this morning and it flat didn’t respond. I did not try Ava though, I don’t think. Maybe that’s the issue.

Posted in another thread but my impression so far? Meh. Not the game changer I hoped it would be. Especially since when you ask it to do anything car or media related it basically tells you to use the old voice commands. So basically just another distraction app.
Pointless while driving unless you’re so disinterested in paying attention to the road you’d rather learn the number of syllables in your favorite song or how many jelly beans fit in a 747 or whatever.
For me, more smoke and mirrors but no meaningful upgrade.

Grok seems more like a gimmick than anything. I like the changes to the dash cam. I really hope they release an update to the FSD soon.

Yah, mostly how I feel also. Though, today on a somewhat longish drive with nothing else to listen to I had a good, informative "interactive news" session. I just asked for today's news and then dug into specific items that interested me. In some cases asked for background info or explanations one would normally find in "the side bar". Must say I quite like news this way, skip the boring/drama stuff and detail in areas of interest.

Question is how truthful news this way is - then again, turn on any broadcaster of whatever color and it is going to be ... colored :-D.

Dialing down the chattiness is my big issue. I can ask her/him/it to be more succinct but it gets _very_ short quickly which isn't good either. And it's a setting you have to ask for every dang time you start a session. It would be fantastic if car-grok could be linked/synced with phone or Mac-grok. Oh well, early days.

Yes we do…..there is basically an entire thread already filled with public inquest and to some extent lynching regarding your stance on this. FWIW, I mostly share your viewpoint on the subject.

And banish. Don’t forget that.
I’d like to be dropped off in an air-conditioned Phoenix building each time I use the car.
Based on what our model x can do, that’s not that far of a reach technologically.

I need to try that interactive news approach. I trust myself to know when I’m hearing MH bullshit the same way I trust myself to be critical when I listen to either CNN or Fox.
