I think a 2-door Cybertruck would be pretty cool and sporty.

How about a larger pickup with long range ! ;)
I think there will be a rather large market for the Semi for retired folks who travel the country in RV parks. All you would need to do is tow a nice 5th wheel, and you can boondock for literally weeks at a time.

They are looking at a Mavrick EV in model year 2027 from that I have read.

Also I consider my Mavrick a real truck as I do haul some stuff. Just at 66 I do not need to do the real heavy duty stuff anymore. There are many pics on the Mavrick forum of workers using there Mav's for work trucks.
I have no doubt that the existing ICE and hybrid Mavericks provide real utility to plenty of people.

I also have no doubt that Ford has been developing an EV Maverick. In fact, Ford trademarked the "Maverick Lightning" name back in 2022.

Unfortunately, I do doubt that we will see an EV Maverick in 2027. Ford may have had that timeline in the past, but they have been backtracking on their EV plans. In early 2024, it was widely reported that the EV Maverick was pushed back to at least 2030. And the outlook for EV vehicles has only gotten worse since then.

I don't believe the form factor to be the limiting spec with the Cybertruck or any EV truck. It's the price. End of story. The Rivian is a smaller form factor truck, and is awesome, and they sell none of them. They need an EV truck that costs $50k. I do realize that is impossible right now but my point is that it's the cost, not the size.
I don't think it's impossible. It actually should be possible to offer a small EV pickup for less than $50,000. But for whatever reason, no one has tried this yet.

A Model Y RWD with the tow package is currently $44,500 (without tax credit). I'd bet an extended-length Model Y RWD with a short bed and the tow package could come in under $50,000. It might not have impressive towing or hauling capabilities, but neither does a Ford Maverick, and those sell.

Or consider that an ICE or hybrid Maverick pickup currently starts around $30,000. I'd bet that an EV version would cost more -- but not $20,000 more. It would still start at less than $50,000.

The Slate 2-door EV pickup is currently scheduled for availability in late 2026 for a price in the "mid-$20,000s" (without tax credit). I wouldn't be surprised if the schedule and price slip. But I'd bet that it will still be possible to get a 2-door Slate pickup, plus a variety of options, in 2027 for less than $50,000.

The CT is a small truck 🤷🏼‍♂️
Ever so slightly smaller than F-150/1500s but bigger than Mavericks, Rangers, and Colorados. Apparently it’s too big for some people to consider, even with how maneuverable it is.

An engineer saying they have discussed a smaller pickup is completely different from planning to make one. It's plainly obvious there are no designs underway, those were forward-looking statements that were taken out of context by Business Insider to create the impression that a smaller truck might be imminent.

As I said earlier, even if they decided to start engineering a smaller truck tomorrow, it wouldn't hit the market unto well into the 2030's. Designing, engineering crash testing, building supply lines, tooling, it all takes a long time and they are NOT actively doing this at this point in time.

It's bigger than my F-150 with a Supercab from a functional perspective. More bed volume, more payload and towing capacity, and a bigger cabin area. The fact that it's 6" shorter overall is a functional advantage. The smallest overall dimensions, with the largest useable cargo and passenger volumes, and the highest payload capacity, is something to strive for. I can't think of a single situation in which I wanted larger outside dimensions.

Everything is relative, so if an F-150 is a full-sized pickup, so is the Cybertruck. Just because it drives like a much smaller truck doesn't mean it's a small truck.

F-150s currently come in five different cab/bed configurations (there used to be six, but Ford has been paring down the F-150 options over the past couple years).

The most popular option is the SuperCrew + 5.5' bed; this is 231.7 inches long, or about 8 inches longer than the Cybertruck at 223.7 inches.

However, Ford still offers F-150s with Regular Cab + 6.5' bed. This is only 209.1 inches long, which is about 14.5 inches shorter than a Cybertruck. Chevy still offers a similar Silverado 1500 at 210.9 inches long.
