Rivian and others tell a different story.

They claim they had no mechanical failures and didn't have to replace tires. They did have cosmetic bumps and scratches.

Thank you for your kind words! I do this because I really love the truck, I love taking it off road and camping in it and taking my family in it on road trips and staring at it late at night in my garage.
I also love making cool parts for it so I don’t have to buy some imported junk from companies who really don’t care about anything other than making money.

Well, that’s pretty convenient for the factory who makes that vehicle to say it made through with no damage.

It’s interesting that the property owners of Rubicon Springs who were there tell a different story… I guess you can spend the narrative however you want

I will tell you the real story, which is the Rubicon Trail is super f#cking gnarly. It’s no place for the Cybertruck to go, and yes, we did it to test our product and prove how good the CT is.

I find it sad that on the Cybertruck forum, the place for us to express how much we love these vehicles, that there are still keyboard warriors willing to hate on our adventure. Makes sense on the jeep for him but here?

I think it's awesome that you did it. My only point was that Rivian claims the R1S made it without damage and the R1T did not make it. Even on the Rivian forum they said the R1S wheel base is more suited for the trail.

Is Rivian lying? Maybe, I don't know. There doesn't appear to be any proof online about it.

Knowing little about the Rubicon trail, I watched this video from two weeks ago (start around 14 min).

Yeah, there doesn’t seem to be any information about it on the Internet… But I’ve heard from people who were there so I’m gonna have to believe them.

and regardless, they still did the rubicon trail as well, which is incredible. It’s no joke!

and for the record, I didn’t try, I DID complete the Rubicon Trail. I passed at least a half a dozen trucks that were broken on the side of the road just like myself it’s not an easy adventure for any vehicle.

I DID complete the Rubicon Trail. I passed at least a half a dozen trucks that were broken on the side of the road just like myself it’s not an easy adventure for any vehicle.

As someone who does the Rubicon multiple times a year in my ICE 4x4s I would have to disagree with your statement. You were dragged across the Rubicon by your support Jeep and other volunteers on the trail. You did not complete the trail under your own power and you broke five ways from Sunday. I know people who bumped into you over those few days and they have confirmed this.

At the end of the day you can drag just about anything across the Rubicon if you really want to. Don't believe me? Look at what Donut Media recently did with a stock Jeep Liberty on highway tires.

Having said that I'm all about getting EVs offroad and love that there are companies like yours supporting that. I just think it's disingenuous for you to be out there bragging about something that everyone knows you actually didn't accomplish.

I do not recommend the Rubicon to any other Cybertruck, no it's now checked off my list. I can't even think about offroading or camping for a month now...

First post, congrats! Did you come here off the Rubicon FB Forum, Reddit or just like trolling? Is this Dallas from camp? Are you still mad your daddy gave help when you didn't want to?

I was not dragged across the Rubicon, I drove across the Rubicon. Yes, I pulled line a half dozen times on some larger obstacles, but I saw lots of truck pulling line. Yes, I was tugged from Morris Rock to where we were stranded for a few days, Should I have blocked the trail? Maybe ask Steve Rubic and Patty Morris if I was making it under my own power?

And not other vehicle helped me except William in the Jeep and 2 Tesla Employees who came on their own time to turn wrenches with us.

I also passed 4 other broken rigs on the trail, guys begging for spare tires, saw them days later getting off, did they not complete either?

I get it, haters gonna hate. Please go back to the Jeep Forum...

That is a different truck and effort. Also I'm not sure how 'significantly damaged' it was. The thread leaves it unresolved. The sheet metal now has dimples at the connection points, possibly from some flex, but it didn't seem to be clear where that was from.

And I believe it did not affect the vehicle's driving. But I don't know more than what is shown in those few posts. What is worth noting is that this is yet another confirmation that independent motors do not replace having diff locks for careful manoeuvring.

We can debate the finers points of what Tesla should aim for, and it's probably fair of Tesla to not make the vehicle into some pure offroad beast, but I still don't think this Cybertruck performance was anything amazingly stellar and perhaps slightly disappointing. The Cybertruck was always going to be at a disadvantage due to weight and size, but I think this also shows areas where Tesla could beef it up. I also would personally prefer to see a physical connection between steering wheel and front wheels. In good news the stainless steel seems to perform well (one of the reasons the Cybertruck is appealing).
