Well, upside for me at least, this might finally solve the "AWD or Beast?" debate I've been having the last couple months.

Really sad to see Tesla going down the "Protection Plan" racket path though.. I mean, I guess at least compared to the old school dealers there's no high pressure sales tactics, just a blunt "you want this model, you'll pay for it, we baked it in"..

It might be kneejerk and I'll have to ponder some more.. but.... not feeling happy thoughts on this one.

Free charging always saves money but costs time versus plugging in to level 1/2 and leaving the vehicle. That's a ballpark estimate of when the wage value of the time spent charging equals the cost of the charging.
My wife has been telling me our 2014 S that takes an hour+ to charge I am wasting my time instead of just plugging it in at home.
That car has lifetime charging, it’s just hard to pay for charging at home when it’s free at the supercharger. But I also understand the agreement about what your time is worth.
Guess I am just used to growing up straightening nails to be reused again mind set.

The Unlimited Supercharging for Life alone is almost worth it for anyone who road trips several times a year. (Me, me. Haha)
LOL, free supercharging would probably make my insurance go up even more for all the extra miles.

Is Luxe package tire maintenance equal to tire replacement for worn out tires? If just tire rotation is not worth it

My other car is a Model 3 Performance with Free Supercharging for Life. Since I got the Cybertruck a year and a half ago I've driven the Model 3 Performance with free charging an average of 0.3 miles per day! Even during the 7 years that it was my primary car, I only used around $50/year of free Supercharging.

I laugh at people who get a Tesla with free Supercharging and then sit at their local Supercharger reading a book, playing games or watching a movie just to save $10 bucks off their home electric bill. I guess some people are drawn like moths to a light whenever something is "free". It's like their life has no value.
Haha, when you do all those things anyway it's a great place to do all that and get paid for it. 😁

But "reading a book, playing games or watching a movie" while getting free charging and free air conditioning (or heat) is bad?
I guess if you like to do those things while sitting in a public parking lot, more power to you. I would rather doing those things at home. I can tell they are just killing time, it's not where they really want to be.

$10 is over an hour of work at the federal minimum wage. The scenario also assumes they have charging at their residence.
My observations apply to where I live, in Washington. In places like Seattle and Tukwila, the minimum starting wage for all workers is $20.76/hr. and $21.10/hr.(respectively). Only entry level jobs at places like McDonalds and Walmart are at minimum. Once you have been there a while, or you have a "real" job, it will be higher, generally much higher. People at minimum wage are not the people buying new Tesla with free Supercharging. Yes, there are exceptions, I'm not talking about edge cases, I'm talking about the people whose time should be more valuable than the few dollars they can pump into their car in an hour.

Furthermore, in this region, electricity is only $0.10-0.11/kWh. The way I look at it is that people can use their spare time as they see fit. Those who are smart will not feel tied to one of these low wage jobs, they will spend their time productively, to make a better life for themselves. Maybe they will start a business or pick up odd jobs doing something they like and are good at. You don't get ahead by sitting on your ass in a parking lot making $6/hour. You also have to count the time and electricity it takes to get to the charging station (yes, the vast majority of these people have charging at home).

I often drive right by a Supercharger but the math doesn't work. I have places to be, things to do, that make sitting in my car in a parking lot not a smart plan. I do use the free Supercharging during my rest breaks on a road trip and it's great knowing that it's free, that I don't have to pay $0.40/kWh to fill up, but if I can do it at home for only $0.11/kWh, that's what I do (and that's what most people who have Free Supercharging do).

That’s sort of good for me, since I have a CBFS. I’m talking about depreciation wise. Well, maybe. Let’s see how the market feels and reacts about it. I know this is wishful thinking but I wish Tesla will offer the Luxe package to FS owners this for free. I mean what we don’t have already like free supercharging and Four-Year Premium Service (Wheel and tire protection, windshield protection and recommended maintenance). We are afterwards the ones that took the risk, trust and most of all paid the price.
I highly doubt it. They found trusting rich people and intend to spend all that capital for maximal profit.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my FS CB, but I didn’t enjoy waiting 1680 days to get it. I’ll never buy a pre-announce Tesla ever again. Unless it’s a cybertruck like the one they didn’t video debut for in 2019…i still really want one of those and am willing to be played the fool again in hopes of getting a real CT.

So it makes the AWD seem more ā€œaffordableā€? Is that the idea here or is it just sleight of hand distraction from the loss of the tax credit without a corresponding price cut?
Or perhaps they are plannning to make up some of the cost of cutting the AWD price commensurate to some or all of the tax credit by selling the cyberbeast to loyalists and ā€œtop of the lineā€ chasers for more.
Just trying to understand the purpose of the sales maneuver.
Just another way to try and move these trucks...but as a FSCB owner it does chap my A$$ a wee bit missing out on free supercharging - even a couple years worth and I'd be driven to every national park.....

Does this include all the stuff they have removed since the FS?

I recently got up close to a ā€˜base’ AWD and couldn’t believe the difference šŸ‘€

And if it doesn’t and you need some all weather floor mats and live in Arizona, hit me up. 😁

Tires are expensive but in 4 years the truck should need 0 maintenance that is not covered under warranty.
FSD $8k
Supercharging $0-$10k in value
Connectivity $100-$500 in value

Some of the people that grabbed the last of the FS with supercharging got a steal.
Yeah, I got CBFS with free lifetime supercharging and Zero APR for 108k. That’s 12 less than originally plus the SC which saves me 1k per month

in California, charging a CB at home (even with solar system) with average mileage is well over $1000 per year. I’ve got plenty of local superchargers near where I live and frequently park. The savings would add up for sure, especially accounting for increasing PGE rates over time.

I see this as partially a competitive response to other other automakers with native NACS ports recently available (think lucid/rivian). Buyers now get to choose between paying whatever Tesla chooses to charge for supercharging or free!
I’m in LADWP territory was was spending $500 a month on charging at home on my first CT AWD. Now I got the FREE SC on my CBFS and it will save me about $6k per year. I had 57K miles when I sold my first CT.
