Regardless of what Tesla is or is not saying, it is highly likely that they are responsible for the cost to rewrap any affected CT. Interestingly, much like if part of your shingled roof is damaged, if the rewrap does not match the aged wrap currently on the CT, Tesla will be responsible for the cost to rewrap the entire truck. It has nothing to do with OEM or aftermarket wraps. This is going to get interesting if/when they refuse.

My personal view: Tesla would be responsible for rewrapping the replaced part—and potentially the entire truck—because the damage to the wrap is a foreseeable consequence of replacing a defective part under warranty. Tesla not only offers wrapping services for Cybertrucks, but has also serviced my wrapped vehicle multiple times, making them fully aware of its condition. Since the wrap was applied well before the defect was identified and might not be perfectly matched due to aging and material differences, a partial rewrap might result in visible mismatch and diminished appearance. Under New York’s Uniform Commercial Code, Tesla is liable for consequential damages flowing from a defective product, including the reasonable cost to restore the vehicle to its pre-replacement condition—that is, the state it was in after being wrapped and before Tesla’s corrective action.

I’ve already had a cant rail replaced by Tesla due to a bend that prevented a proper seal, thereby creating excessive wind noise. They replaced it for free and confirmed they WOULD pay for the third party rewrap. My wrap company didn’t charge me, so I moved on.

Just this week I inquired whether my already replaced cant rail requires/warrants re-replacement under the recall and Tesla Customer Service confirmed I should. They also again confirmed that Tesla WILL cover the rewrap costs.

Not sure who told the OP that Tesla won’t cover the rewrap costs, but that flies in the face of what I’ve been promised more than once by the source . . . i.e., the company that is going to be losing money as a result of the recall, not one potentially making money off of it.
Hi, would you be able to message me about this? Tesla is currently telling me they won't pay for the 3rd party re-wrap. Thanks!

The SCs operate like independent companies. There are SCs that wouldn't change out the MS yoke that was peeling despite a recall.

We typically recommend to try different SCs.

I think @SCTesla answered the question better than I can. Perhaps we just have different levels of customer service at our respective SCs. GL!

If your wrap shop doesn’t cover this I’d be surprised. I would think if you paid 6k for a wrap they would eat the 6 dollars in materials and 20 minutes of labor.

I feel that my wrap guy would probably do it; but I wouldn't pressure an independent shop to do it gratis. They were not responsible for the recall and need to make a living, too!
I was in the appliance installation business. When a Sub-Zero refrigerator needed to be removed for a warranty repair, my R&R was paid for by Sub-Zero!

I hear ya. Id call the shop owner and get a quote. Explain the situation and feel him out.
I bet he will give you the answer you’re looking for. Throw the installer a $20 tip and out the door.

If it’s a common wrap color no big deal. Gloss black, matte black, anything common. They will have extra of it. But your one offs, color change ie chameleon etc not likely. Cybertruck in almost every instance would have used the whole roll or enough to where 10’ for cant rails isn’t there for sure. In some cases you can buy more by the foot from $20 - $60 ft depending on the brand. In other cases a full roll is required to purchase….

SCs are owned and operated by Tesla so ultimately Tesla should be liable for the consequential damages caused by its f-up. Plus it just isn't good practice to treat similar customers differently, there should be a clear cut policy that applies to all and if they don't have that, that's on them....but sure, won't hurt to try another SC (y)

Quoted $1100 to re-wrap these . There is a min amount of wrap that I have to order ~$800 for 10ft then the cost of the installation ~300. Tesla should pay for this since its an actual recall.

I got mine done for $250. I’m not saying anything about your wrap shop, just telling you what mine did.

Wow. I knew someone would get hit with a big bill. I’m sure you’re not alone.

This is one of the most ignorant comments Ive read in a long time. You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Im amazed at how you even get through life.
