Any one try just using the buck converter in the frunk and plug it directly to the modified fridge? I think this is the route I'd like to take. I believe however on other threads I've read that every now and again the frunk power will turn off even if you turn on the option to keep it enabled
That’s the route I Initially took. But yes, I would have frunk power turn off. Definitely after a software update, while charging and other times I’m not sure the reason. Using the Anker has been great. At some point, I should test how long it will power the fridge on one charge.

That’s exactly right. I’ve made myself crazy trying to figure out what condition causes it to turn off. It’s almost completely at random. that was how I wanted to run my fridge at first too.
If the big power station thing seems clunky to you, there are little batteries that can charge off of usb though also and are plenty for when the car is level 2 charging overnight. .
My most recent approach is this little battery from bouge rv.

It fits nicely in the space previously allocated for the ac to dc power brick. Ultimately I scratched the cover housing for access and probably slightly better ventilation because you can’t see it anyway unless you pull the seat all the way back.
So….battery but with zero footprint in the cabin or frunk.

I agree that the little Anker c300dc is also an excellent choice for this application. I think there is now a little “me too” product from Ecoflow also.

Just read back on the posts and realized the prior suggestion was for a slightly different but very similar Anker. This one does not have the ac plugs so is probably inferior for the frunk application.

This is all good info and a great thread. I’m on the fence of installing a fridge. I sort of want one but sadly don’t think I’ll use it much. This thread is making me want to try one out though. So cool having a fridge in your rig.

It is insanely cool. Didn’t think I wanted one and that it was being spoiled but honestly, pulling a super cold Diet Pepsi out of there while driving on my way home from work has become one of the highlights of my day.
And when you have guests in the car….forget about it…instantly impressed.

This is what makes me want one. However myself, who rolls mostly solo in the CT and the rest of my family who rarely joins me 😜, use refillable water bottles like a Yeti. We mostly only drink water. Still I could fill it with water and for the annual or two road trip we would drink soda or other drinks. It is cool but I think realistically I just won’t use it enough to justify it. We’d probably use one on my wife’s MY during kids sporting events more often.
Still, I’m not giving up on the idea because it is so cool. Damn, the things you can do with a CT are endless. I need to retire so I can drive around the country in my CT and fly fish.

I’m sorry. I’m being a bad influence here. Stick with the water in the yetis. It’s healthier for your bodies and your wallets.
We have a little dual zone ICECO go20 in the model x too. That one is fun because it’s dual zone and one side can used as freezer despite being tiny so we always have popsicles in it.
Talk about being popular during those kids sporting events.
It’s one of the perks of driving an EV for me.

any change the buck converter itself could be contributing to the intermittent powering off?
Anyone try this converter? They claim it works well with the cyber truck

when it turns off is it both the frunk and center console jacks?

Unlikely because it does it when it’s just an xt60 connector attached to the solar input of a power station too. It’ll be on for 4 days or 5 and then, out of the blue you wake up and it’s off on the screen.
The frunk power feed is all on its own with a dedicated software switch. Not related to the outlets in the center console in any way I know of.

This seems like the best overall solution. Just worried about not having easy access to this battery and fire concerns

Some sharp observations. I had the same concerns. That’s why I ended up scratching the plastic housing despite the nice fit. All the controls and plug for the battery are on one end of it which gives you access if you slide the seat back.
Without the plastic cover there is at least an inch and a half or more on every side of the battery in that space. Other than the floor of course, but that’s true anywhere you put that battery. The center footwell or fridge tunnel if you will is not carpeted which is also a plus.
Temps have been non-worrisome so far even in Phoenix. I do generally keep my cabin overheat protection on in my climate, but I think you could safely turn it off in a more moderate place.
For the sake of of a more permanent connection, I found this expanding 12v connector on ebay I have never seen before.
It doesn’t scream high quality but the idea is excellent.

Ah. Ok. By scratching u mean not using…??? Are u saying by not using the the plastic housing. Miss understood. So there is access and reasonable ventilation. If that’s the case I think this is the route I’ll go

Yes. Sorry for the ambiguity. Was initially going to use the plastic housing they made for the power brick but decided against it because I wanted to retain access to the battery controls without removing the fridge and slightly better ventilation.

Will shoot some pics for you when I’m done with my shift. Velcro is what I did.
Three pieces of loop in the recessed grooves between the “stripes” and a single piece of hook on the bottom of the battery. Not even sure this is necessary because it’s pretty caged in there so there is zero risk of it going anywhere to have a drink or meet ladies, but I wanted it not to get knocked around.
After about a week of using it, I added my usb hub right on top of it too so it’s confined from moving upwards as well.
In other words, the Velcro was probably overkill.
I probably could have used a little piece of nano tape and called it a day or even not secured it at all.
