Thought I'd start a poll... more of a guessing game... When will the first member here get FSD v14? Should be about 6 weeks from the announcement on August 10th.

Just thought this could be a little fun. So, keep it light... keep it fun... Can't wait to see the new version! I'm hoping for at least better graphics, improved behavior, and, I can dream, ASS.

I’ve finally got the hang of the FSD. CT hasn’t nagged me in a few days now. FSD is great! Changed my life for running around town.

For me, FSD still signals into the left lane for no reason... nobody in front of me. It's really good other than that. Though, in DC traffic, there are a couple of places where I have to get over several lanes in a hurry. I haven't let FSD tackle that yet... It's me, not it...

I haven’t had that happen. But I have had to stop FSD and restart it because it picks the wrong lane. I know I have to turn right and then right again into a parking lot, but it chooses to stay in the left most turning lane.

There are some things that it just doesn't pick up yet. Like, there's one left turn where you need to get into the left lane about 1.5 miles back... It doesn't.

mine has gotten better about not crossing over the left lane line. It's still not perfect, but it used to be atrocious.

I think a lot of people get confused on FSD release timelines because there are so many small-step releases before it hits gen pop.

They have internal closed alpha and beta, then release candidates that go to internal Tesla employees who are trained and certified to test, then open beta for Tesla employees, then RC for trusted 3rd party (think Ai Driver and other youtubers), then limited gen pop early release, THEN it starts to slowly trickle out to wide release.

I'm probably missing a few groups as well. So when Elon says "coming in 6 weeks" he means the first step in this whole stack. Gen pop wide release will always lag a month or two behind so they catch real word things that they weren't able to in the earlier channels.

They use the save dev model as the rest of the critical software industry.

... and that hasn't already been going on already and we are in the later stages of development?

We haven't even seen the initial testers get it, much less influencers. The initial testers/employees on Teslafi get builds 1+ months before the rollout starts.

I said in another thread, I think they will hit that first group by the end of September, but it will likely be end of October or early November before the masses get a version of it.

You are probably right. I thought the Cybertaxi was effectively the pre-build version of FSD and thus the primary ops test.

I thought we were past the initial release where internal employees reviewed and verified the release and we'd see moderate distribution early this month and wider release later. I was basically asking if I'm remembering that FSD in the CyberCab is the same as what we'll be getting so that we are already well into the verification stage.

gotcha. I think they are still doing closed internal beta testing with v14 at the moment. Non FSD team employees likely don't even have it yet.

I'm making best guesses here, since we can't know for a fact unless you have an insider willing to put their job on the line and violate NDAs lol. If history keeps, when you see a Youtubers like AiDriver make a video, then you can expect to start seeing it trickle to gen pop a few weeks after (typically 2 weeks).

It is an extremely careful and tedious process because safety is critically important.

While everything you say is true V14 has already been tested and deployed in the field for the Model Y. It would not be unreasonable for it to deploy to the rest of the fleet faster than usual.

we can at least hope so.
