If someone is drowsy or drifting out of a lane, and they engage FSD how will that help them stay more focused? I would imagine that it would have the opposite effect. Additionally, if a person is falling asleep, and FSD yells at them to “pay attention” then disengages, and gives them a strike then what?

In the early days of autopilot, there was a concept that if the car detected an emergency (unconscious driver) it could turn on hazards and pull the car over, and even call emergency services has anyone ever seen this in action?

Almost every drive for the past three weeks or so I have gotten this when it ‘seems to sense’ me getting in the freeway..

It's less tedious with FSD, which can help prevent the brain from fuzzing out. All those little corrections you need to make use energy and add load to an already tired system.

Just as important, if sudden action is required, FSD is more capable than a very fatigued human. Tesla operates on a first-principles basis, which would be safer, letting a dangerously tired driver continue to drive or encourage them to give it to FSD? The obvious answer is that even if the human falls totally asleep, they are safer than they were nodding off while not having FSD there to back them up.

This should be obvious to anyone who has used a recent version of FSD and who has also driven when they were too tired to safely do so.

this is basically asking/suggesting to the user to rely on the system because drowsiness has been detected.. where as in other wordings it clearly states you must always be alert and attentive..

Well isn't this quite ironic since I just got put on a 7-day time-out (a few weeks ago) from using FSD because I was drowsy too many times while using it. When I needed FSD the most to help me it forbid me from using it for 7-days...


Also, it suggests using FSD always anyway if you don't have it turned on...like literally always suggesting to turn it on...

The system is constantly evolving and improving. Before too long, you won't even need to have ANY driver in the driver's seat. As it improves to that point, Tesla's guiding principle for system decisions will always be the one that results in the fewest injuries and deaths.

Actually this is exactly my point… Why not have it suggest you pull over and rest..? …if it detects drowsiness…

Suggesting to keep driving, but with FSD (as perfect as it is…currently not) is not the ‘safest’ logic…

I agree with your logic. I guess im more referencing FSD disengaging when it detects driver “not paying attention” and saying “not available the rest of the drive”. Ive never let it go very far to see if it would actually pull the car over but i wonder if it would.

Ah. So this confirms my concern as listed above. I understand how it can reduce task saturation, but at the same time if FSD disengages for this reason, the driver is asleep and the car crashes… well then at least they can say it wasn't fsd’s fault? Idk, the messaging above seems kind of misleading. I dont think that engaging FSD would help the driver stay focused under these circumstances.
